Chateau Chasse Spleen Cru Bourgeois Moulis
Description: On the "Route des Chateaux" in the Medoc, just after the village of Arcins, to the left after the famous inn the Lion d'Or, are the vineyards of Chasse Spleen. South of the gravelly brow of Grand Poujeaux, this vineyard benefits from a remarkably well drained subsoil and is superbly well exposed to the hot summer sun. The soil is composed of 80% Garonne gravel on a chalky substratum and 20% chalky clay. Before the vines were planted only extremely rustic cereal like rye grew on this land. The climate is also particularly important. The rainy Medoc springtime constitutes a water reserve in the buried tertiary shelf. A hot summer is hard on the vines, and means that the roots must go even deeper underground for their necessary water supply. The weather and the poor soil are exactly what are needed for the Medoc grape varieties: 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. The wines, from comparatively old vines, are top class. This is one of the handful of Médoc estates that does not filter either after the malolactic fermentation or before bottling. The best vintages have remarkable depth: cassis fruits, extract, body and texture with a hint of plums and spicy new oak . Available in 1.5 Litre Magnum bottles. (6 x 1.5 Litres)

Pommery PRESTIGE CUVEE LOUISE Rose Vintage Champagne
Description: Champagne with pale pink hue blending with delicate pastel colour. The convivial Chardonnay gives way to the Pinot, with its subtle or even mischievous progression. The sophistication of the Blending is reflected in the initial nose of small red fruits with acidy flavours followed by slightly more full-bodied notes which give this wine a certain impertinence. On the palate, it has a steadily growing presence thanks to its finesse and elegance but also its complexity. The notes of white fruit, such as peach, merge with gooseberry and pear. The finish corresponds to a smooth, delightful and well-balanced blend which makes this delightful young wine all the more irresistible. (6 x 75 cl)

Chateau Lynch Bages 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac
Description: The Lynch-Bages estate is located just outside the city of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, on one of the most beautiful gravelly outcrops in the appellation. The well-drained soil consists mainly of Garonne gravel. The sub-soil forms a solid, but fairly disjointed foundation, enabling the roots of old vines to grow to a depth of 6-8 metres. In 1974, Jean-Michel Cazes set about restructuring the estate. He equipped it with up-to-date technical facilities, but kept the old vat room dating from last century intact. It is now one of the Médoc's most unusual sights. The grapes are hand-picked and the wine is made in a vat room containing 35 stainless steel vats equipped with temperature control systems. Lynch-Bages made primarily from Cabernet-Sauvignon, is famous for its fine bouquet and rich tannin, which becomes soft and delicious with age. Lynch-Bages is powerful with a long aftertaste. It is typical of the greatest wines of Pauillac. The 1999 vintage is displaying a dense purple colour as well as low acidity. This blackberry and cassis-flavoured wine possesses a fat, juicy mid-section, and outstanding purity, ripeness, and glycerin in the long finish, which oozes over the palate with no bumps. The tannin is well-concealed by the wealth of chewy fruit. (12 x 75 cl)
