Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut Nuits Saint Georges AC
Description: In the early 1960's, this 22 acre estate was created by Fernand Lecheneaut while he worked for a négociant in Beaune. He took advantage of opportunities to buy parcels of various vineyards, and finally quit the shipper trade when he had acquired enough. Based mainly in the Côte de Nuits, spread through the appellations of Nuit-St-Georges, Morey-St-Denis, Vosne Romanée and Chambolle Musigny, where it is planted with 90% Pinot Noir. In addition the Domaine have a small vineyard in the grand cru Clos de la Roche in Morey-St-Denis. The remaining 10% of grapes produced are evenly divided between Chardonnay and Aligote. Their annual production of 2,500 cases comes in 13 different bottlings and availability is strictly limited. Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut has been run since 1985 by brothers Vincent and Philippe Lecheneaut. The Estate in Nuits St Georges is considered one of the finest in Burgundy and tradition is the by-word for the wines made here. Once harvested the wine spends 18 months in barrique without any fining or filtration. The wines produced are superbly crafted, concentrated yet forward and elegant with well integrated oak. A dark coloured wine with dark fruit flavours and aromas, this is a great Premiere Cru Pinot Noir. Isabel Estate Pinot Noir Marlborough NZ
Description: Isabel Estate Vineyard was established in 1982 to produce premium classical grape varieties in Marlborough. However, prior to the 1994 vintage, Proprietor Michael Tiller, then an airline pilot with Air New Zealand, together with his wife Robyn, operated Isabel Estate successfully as a contract grape growing vineyard supplying some of Marlborough's leading wine producers with much sought after premium fruit. The character and individuality of their fruit derived from a unique soil profile and vineyard location encouraged them to produce and market their own wine under the Isabel Estate label. This was regarded as the most natural of evolutionary steps. Isabel Estate aims to produce true 'estate' wines (6 x 1.5 Litres)

Robert Mondavi Merlot Napa Valley California
Description: At 90 years of age, Robert Mondavi remains the global emissary for these wine. His vision was to create wines in California that belong in the company of the great wines of the world. Robert Mondavi is known for producing hand-crafted wines of distinct style. Representing the best of California wine growing regions, including the legendary Napa Valley, each of the wines offers unique qualities and characteristics. Robert Mondavi Winery is located in the heart of Napa Valley, California. The first major winery built in Napa Valley in the post-Prohibition era, Robert Mondavi Winery helped establish the foundation for the modern-day California wine business. Its mission-style architecture, with the expansive archway and bell tower designed by Cliff May, has become an enduring landmark that evokes California's winemaking history. This Merlot comes from several vineyard in the Napa Valley region. The great influence of terroir on Merlot vines is revealed with an array of different flavors developed in diverse soil-types and mesoclimates. Mondavi like the vibrancy of the Merlot grown the Los Carneros American Viticultural Area , while the pure fruit expression of Stags Leap District AVA Merlot and the rich, deep flavours of Merlot cultivated in the Oakville AVA are also used in this wine. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec adds structure and spice to this wine. Mondavi handcrafted the wine with extended maceration and 14 months of ageing in French oak barrels. Gentle clarification through barrel-to-barrel racking enabled the wine to be bottled without filtration and fully capture the silky, complex character. Rich and silky, the Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Merlot unfolds with layers of berry and plum. Nuances of violet and spice add interest to the lush fruit character, while the complex flavour profile and velvety texture come from Merlot grapes grown in the diverse soils and climates of the southern half of Napa Valley. Bodega Terrazas de los Andes CHEVAL DES ANDES Mendoza Argentina
Description: A joint venture between Chateau Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de los Andes, this wine is a groundbreaking blend of legendary, Bordeaux First Growth winemaking expertise with the very best terroir in Argentina, resulting in an elegant New World tribute to the historic art of ssemblage. Cheval des Andes is made according to the traditional methods used since the middle of the 19th century. The spirited Argentine thoroughbred has taken from Cheval Blanc its expertise in blending and its painstaking, almost craftsman-like approach. Carefully controlled yields, no use of herbicides, bunch thinning, extreme care in the working of the soil, and so on. A host of tiny gestures that are repeated over and again throughout the year and which are the traditional hallmark of the great Bordeaux wine estates. Produced from vines ageing up to 75 years and harvested by hand this wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Aged in new French oak barrels between 15 to 18 months the wine is racked every three months and when ready fined with egg whites. This wine is a deep intense ruby-red colour almost black in middle with mauve glints on the rim. The Aroma is powerful, showing warm notes of tobacco, red berry fruit macerated in brandy, cherry stones, and home-made jam, against a backdrop of oaky, slightly spicy aromas of cedar-wood, tobacco and bay leaves. The attack on the palate is full, rich and warm with lots of freshness coming through, while sweet, ripe tannins mingle harmoniously with the oak beautifully rounded off by a full, long finish.
