Domaine Cuilleron L'AMARYBELLE Vielle Vignes St Joseph
Description: It has taken Yves Cuilleron 10 years to establish himself as one of the most dynamic young winegrowers in the Northern Rhone. His bold wines move and impress aficionados by their deep combination of terroir and style, a style which combines concentration and elegance, the two words which best define a great wine. This wine is made with Syrah grapes and the old vines used are between 20 and 40 years old. The grapes come from a selection of the best vines on terraces and hillsides where the soils are sandy granite and not very deep, while neither insecticides nor acaricides are used. After the manual harvest the grapes are picked out, crushed and partially picked off from the bunch. Next, the wine is put into oak barrels and malolactic fermantation occurs and finally the wine is aged in oak for 18 months. Dark ruby coloured wine with an intensely perfumed nose of redcurrant, licorice, and fresh violet. Serious, concentrated and deep, with strong, inky berry and cherry flavours that build and expand on the palate combine well with powerful tannins and strong finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Pascal Jolivet EXCEPTION Rouge Sancerre
Description: The house of Pascal Jolivet is one of the youngest and most dynamic in the Loire Valley. He started the Grand Vins du Val de Loire in 1982, however, later founded the house of Pascal Jolivet in 1987. Here he specialised in the wines of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume which he has very quickly gained a leading position with the Michelin-starred restaurants in France. Today, with 70 acres of vineyards in the two premier appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume, bolstered by 50 percent purchased fruits, Pascal Jolivet produces classically styled Loire red and white wines. 100% Pinot Noir it has spent 12 months in barrel and bottled without filtration. This has produced a very clear ruby coloured wine with crimsons reflections. Showing concentrated flavours of red fruits including currant and cherry there are spiced notes evident from the barrel ageing. The palate is displaying ripe, very pure, concentrated fruit while the attack is very elegant culminating in a persistent finnish. (6 x 75 cl)
