Domaine Henri Gouges LES PRULIERS 1er Cru Nuits-Saint-Georges
Description: The Henri Gouges domain was established in Nuits Saint Georges at the very beginning of this century. Founded by Henri Gouges, it was subsequently developed by his two sons, Michel and Marcel. In the last 15 years Pierre and Christian, the grandsons, have carried on the traditions of the estate by continuing the quest for excellence in everything they do both in the vineyards and in the cellars, they produce wines considered to be the benchmark for Nuits. The wines are produced on 14.5 hectares of vineyards and includes holdings in 6 Nuits St. Georges 1er Crus. Uncompromising about quality and respectful of the typicity of the different vintages, the harvest is entirely destemmed and vinification takes place in lined cement vats for approximately fifteen days, depending on the vintage. After cuvaison, the wine is transferred to small oak barrels and after 18 months ageing in oak barrels, using a maximum of 20 % new oak in the final blending, the wines are fined with egg whites and given a light filtration before bottling. The 1.8 hectares of this parcel have the benefit of an ideal location and exposure to the sun in the heart of the Nuiton vineyard. Both youthful , and mature , these vineyards give body to wines. A great reflection of the terrior this Pinot Noir has aromas of wild fruit, venison, heavily tinged with minerals. Great balance, complexity and character this is a wine to savour. Limited Availability. (6 x 75 cl)

Giacomo Borgogno Barolo Classico
Description: Bartolomeo Borgogno founded his winery in 1761; upon his death in 1794 his three sons took over control of the business, though only one, the youngest, Giacomo, persevered. The wine is a judicious blend of Nebbiolo grapes chosen from the finest hillside sites in the commune of Barolo. The winemaking process is a tribute to the great Barolos of the past and uses an extend 'submerged cap' maceration process in order to conjure up the special perfumes and tastes of this ancient tradition. The wine has tremendous substance and is intended to age for many years to arrive at the ultimate goal of balance and harmony. Alcohol, acids and tannin fuse together to form a powerful structure and the bouquet shows great complexity. (6 x 75 cl)

Foradori Vigneti delle Dolomiti Granato Rosso IGT
Description: There are two distinct levels of quality that Elisabetta Foradori has aimed at producing from Teroldego: the first is the 'Foradori', marked by the purity, dignity and intensity of the fruit. Soft yet penetrating its sweetness is backed by a supporting acidity that weaves elegantly amongst the fruit. The second, called 'Granato' is a wine of greater strength, harmony, depth and nobility. Deep, almost shy on the first nose, it reveals itself as the aromas come into focus: wild berries and candied fruit make way for roasted hazelnuts, baked bread, leather, eucalyptus and pomegranate, then the full robust palate shows plenty of temptingly chewy flesh. The following are the inspiring principles of Elisabetta Foradori's work in her vineyards, the climate and soil are elements that cannot be modified, while the work of man can lead to deep changes in the grapevine. Clonal selection in the 1970s led to the homogenisation of the Teroldego grape variety and hence to its genetic impoverishment: very few clones aimed exclusively at increasing the yield were developed. The limited area cultivated with Teroldego grapes was soon covered completely with the clonal material. The result is that today almost all of the vineyards are cultivated with only this variety of Teroldego. In 1985 Elisabetta Foradori started her work to recover the variety's diversity. After identifying the estate's oldest vineyard, she started with the careful selection and multiplication of the plant specimens that had the required quality features. Their monitoring over the years led to a further selection and it was followed by others reaching up to this day. Foradori has selected 15 Teroldego biotypes that she uses for replanting. They are the qualitative backbone of her wines. Ensuring a vineyard's utmost diversity is the best possible guarantee of obtaining great qualitative results. This is the idea behind all of the work that follows in the vineyard, aimed at reaching the variety's perfect balance thus allowing it to express itself in full and exalt its whole potential and uniqueness. Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Vieilles Vignes Rully
Description: Now in his early thirties, Vincent Dureuil has firmly established himself as one of the top three growers in Rully, where he is based. He is that rare thing, a winemaker equally at home with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. His whites are mineral and expressive without being lean, whilst his reds are juicy. Following his father's retirement at the end of 2002 Vincent has been able to double the size of his holdings to around 13 hectares. The result is whites whilst crisp and mineral, show a seductive amount of flesh, whilst his Pinots have a ripe, chewy quality, with mouth-watering acid balance, which promises exciting development with age.
