Winemaking at Il Borro dates back to 1760 when the estate was under the rule of the noble Medici-Tornaquinci Family, since 1999 however the Ferragamo Family in conjunction with enologist Niccolo D'Afflitto have developed the winemaking process and opened a new state of the art winery. The estate, which extends over 700 hectares currently has 40 hectares of that land dedicated to vines. The soil has an excellent structure with a good sandy composition which denotes itself to the growing of five varieties of vine: Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot all of which are used in this blend. The grapes are accurately hand selected before soft crushing. The alcoholic fermentation lasts 10 days at 30°C, the maceration on the skins continues for a further 22 days. The wine is then racked in Allier oak barriques, in which the malo-lactic fermentation takes place, ageing for 12 month and fining for an additional 6 months. Intense ruby red coloured wine with purple reflections and an intense, rich vinous, complex bouquet of red berries, underbrush and sweet spices. This blend is dry, full-bodied, warm, smooth, luscious and has well integrated tannins, intense, well balanced, with a very long and pleasant finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Giacomo Ascheri VIGNA DEI POLA Barolo
Description: The Giacomo Ascheri Cellars originated in La Morra: in that area, where a place called “Ascheri” still exists, in the early 19th century the first vines were planted and the first wines produced. In 1880 the winery was moved from La Morra to Bra, where it is still situated today. In a world where wines are generally produced with the same grapes, the same technology, the same wood for ageing and above all the same consultants, Ascheri's aim is to obtain a wine which is the expression of the vineyard it comes from, the grapes it was made of, and above all Giacomo Ascheri own ideas. In order to achieve this, Giacomo Ascheri have chosen a natural approach, with a moderate use of technology, without changing the nature of the wine with special procedures. They have attached new importance to old oak barrel ageing making choices entirely by ourselves. 100% Nebbiolo hand harvested in early October from the Pisapola vineyard in Verduno. This wine is aged 4 months in stainless steel tanks followed by 18 months in oak, 50% old Slavonian, 50% new Allier and a further 10 months in the bottles. This wine is an intense garnet red colour and has an ethereal and elegant bouquet, with ripe fruit and violet notes. Wine with an intense garnet red colour and has an ethereal and elegant bouquet, as well as ripe fruit and violet notes. Round and powerful this velvety wine has excellent persistence as well as being an austere, but harmonious and pleasant wine with a great finish.
