Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
Description: In 1978 John and Harry Mariani, successful American importers, joined forces with Italy's leading enologist, Ezio Rivella; their objective was to produce top-quality wine on a scale never before attempted in Italy. Castello Banfi is a rarity among Italian wine estates, not just because of its size , its composition of single vineyards, or its state-of-the-art winery, but because it was started from scratch a little over 25 years ago. At that time the Mariani Brothers were looking for an estate where the climate and soil had to be ideal for the cultivation of many of the world's noble grape varieties, and it had to be within a region of Italy that already had a tradition of quality winemaking. The 4,500 acres that the Mariani Brothers first found were near Montalcino, and eligible for the status DOCG of Brunello di Montalcino, one of the most prestigious of all Italian wines and it met the other criteria as well. By good luck the adjacent estate, of 2,600 acres, became available shortly afterwards and in 1984 the 11th century castle was the final purchase, and the estate was renamed Castello Banfi. Today Castello Banfi is producing a wide range of wines including Brunello di Montalcino that was Italy's first wine to be accorded D.O.C.G. status, a testament to its aristocracy, balance and fabulous proclivity for ageing. Under the direction of Banfi's master winemakers, the Brunello grapes are transformed into a remarkable world-class wine, perhaps the most respected red of Italy. Aged for a total of up to four years, including a minimum of two years in oak barrels, Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino is a wine of robust character. It possesses a rich garnet colour, and a depth, complexity and opulence that is softened by an elegant, lingering aftertaste. Chunky red with aromas of berry, mint, cherry and wet earth. Chateau Duhart Milon BARON de MILON Pauillac
Description: The Rothschild family acquired Chateau Duhart-Milon, a 4th Cru in the 1855 classification from the Castejas of Pauillac, in 1962. The property was named after the Sieur of Duhart, gun-runner to Louis XIV, who owned this land, and from the name of the little hamlet of Milon which stands on a knoll separating this vineyard from that of Chateau Lafite. Since the acquisition, a lot of work has been done to re-establish the name and the reputation of this cru classe: replanting and developing the vineyard; building new modern chais and cuvier; paying strict attention to the viticulture as to the vinification. Château Duhart Milon's second wine, is selected from vats of the Grand Vin. In general, the grapes are from the youngest part of the vineyard. Although Baron de Milon has several characteristics in common with the first wine it is aged less in barrel for earlier consumption. Using Cabernet Sauvignon , Cabernet Franc , Merlot with just a few percent of Petit Verdot . The fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, but the wines are aged in oak barriques, made by the cooper of Lafite, 33 to 40% are renewed each year. After 18 to 20 months in barrels, during which time the wines are racked seven times and fined, the bottling takes place at the chateau. A strict selection of the vats which go into Duhart-Milon wines maintains a high quality. Full bodied, with supple round fruit the wine is now ready to drink.

Description: In 1981 we planted some Chardonnay vines in a single vineyard of our estate in Treiso, replacing an old vineyard of Barbaresco. Since 1985 we produce with these Chardonnay grapes a limited quantity of barrel fermented Chardonnay called Piodilei. We wanted to keep the quantity of this wine very small and in the meantime we wish to give the chance to a wider number of consumers to enjoy our Chardonnay. In September 1993 we decided to ferment in stainless-steel tanks a part of our Chardonnay: the results was a fresh and vibrant wine with evident hints of ripe fruits. After some experiments we noted that adding to this wine a 25% of the same Chardonnay fermented and aged in new oak barrels, we reached an interesting wine spicy taste and persistent after-taste. Description: In the early 1960's, this 22 acre estate was created by Fernand Lecheneaut while he worked for a négociant in Beaune. He took advantage of opportunities to buy parcels of various vineyards, and finally quit the shipper trade when he had acquired enough. Based mainly in the Côte de Nuits, spread through the appellations of Nuit-St-Georges, Morey-St-Denis, Vosne Romanée and Chambolle Musigny, where it is planted with 90% Pinot Noir. In addition the Domaine have a small vineyard in the grand cru Clos de la Roche in Morey-St-Denis. The remaining 10% of grapes produced are evenly divided between Chardonnay and Aligote. Their annual production of 2,500 cases comes in 13 different bottlings and availability is strictly limited. Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut has been run since 1985 by brothers Vincent and Philippe Lecheneaut. The Estate in Nuits St Georges is considered one of the finest in Burgundy and tradition is the by-word for the wines made here. Once harvested the wine spends 18 months in barrique without any fining or filtration. The wines produced are superbly crafted, concentrated yet forward and elegant with well integrated oak. A ruby-coloured wine with dark forrest fruit aromas and floral hints of rose and violets. This Pinot Noir is an intense, fat, broad-shouldered, full-bodied wine showing off its super-ripe fruit flavours. Description: The Giacomo Ascheri Cellars originated in La Morra: in that area, where a place called ''Ascheri'' still exists, in the early 19th century the first vines were planted and the first wines produced. In 1880 the winery was moved from La Morra to Bra, where it is still situated today. In a world where wines are generally produced with the same grapes, the same technology, the same wood for ageing and above all the same consultants, Ascheri's aim is to obtain a wine which is the expression of the vineyard it comes from, the grapes it was made of, and above all Giacomo Ascheri own ideas. In order to achieve this, Giacomo Ascheri have chosen a natural approach, with a moderate use of technology, without changing the nature of the wine with special procedures. They have attached new importance to old oak barrel ageing making choices entirely by ourselves. 100% Nebbiolo wine from the Sorano Estate in Serralunga d'Alba. The vineyard has South/South West facing slopes and an altitude which ranges from 280 to 350m above sea level, the vineyards in the Sorano Estate are planted with Nebbiolo and Dolcetto vines, taht produce wines which are outstanding for richness and tipicity. Harvested by hand in early and mid October the wine is aged 6 months in stainless steel tanks, 28 months in Slavonian oak, 85% old, 15% new and a further 10 months in the bottle. Garnet red colour with an ethereal bouquet, intense tar with a scent of dry flowers and a mineral note. A rich palate, balance and mature tannins contribute to the wines harmony, distinction and intensity. A remarkably classy, austere wine, with exceptional richness and tipicity with a great finish.
