Welsh owner Bob Watts, has enthusiastically adopted new world techniques, making approachable, fruit driven wine. The Chateaux Du Seuil vines are planted on a south-facing slope over looking the Garonne river next to the medieval village of Rions. There are 10.0 hectares with some of the vines up to 80 years old and yields are kept low reflecting a preference for higher quality grapes with greater intensity of flavour at harvest time. The Vineyards are planted with approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are predominantly gravelly slopes, ensuring excellent drainage. The small amount of clay present between the pebbles constitutes just enough water heat of summer. The red grapes are hand and machine picked, these are left to ferment on their skins for 15 days under temperature controlled conditions in stainless steel tanks and then some of the wine is aged in oak. The Oak aged wine is then re-blended prior to bottling to add greater complexity to the wine. Bottled for approximately 9 months after the vintage to retain all the fresh fruity flavours and aromas .The wine is fruity with soft integrated tannins giving a long fine aftertaste. (12 x 75 cl)

Jackson Wine Estates CAMBRIA BENCH BREAK VINEYARD Chardonnay Santa Maria Valley California
Description: Cambria's proximity to the ocean and east-west orientation gives this 1,405-acre property the diversity it needs to grow Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah under perfectly suited conditions. As an estate property, Cambria's Vineyard Manager and Winemaker work in tandem to perfect the winegrowing process. Together, they select only the finest grapes from the estate to bear the Cambria name. Every grape is hand-harvested and crafted into wine with the utmost care and respect for the varietal. This 100% Estate grown Chardonnay has spent 10 months ageing in Damy French oak and Winemaker Fred Holloway considered: 'The Bench Break Vineyard Chardonnay is reminiscent of a classic Burgundy with lots of mineral and slate characteristics, layered with complex flavour. Extremely exciting with a lightly spiced, lingering finish.' In 1986 Barbara Banke and her husband, Jess Jackson, bought the premium acres of the Tepusquet Vineyard with the intent of establishing a family-owned estate property that farmed and crafted exceptional wines. Since then, her vision has become reality. Cambria has carved out a reputation for lush, tropical Chardonnay, velvety-textured Pinot Noir and rich, spicy Syrah, all grown on one contiguous property. In recent years Cambria has concentrated its vineyard and winemaking resources into amplifying different aspects of the Cambria estate. This effort launched an in-depth exploration of the vineyard and varieties on this cool-climate property. The result has elevated the quality of Cambria's core wines, created new site-focused and distinct winemaking styles, and dramatically highlighted the bold flavours of each variety. (12 x 75 cl)
