Max Ferdinand Richter Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett Mosel QmP
Description: The estate of Max Ferd. Richter has been in the ownership of the family for more than 300 years. Today this enterprise is one of the leading producers of top Riesling wines in the heart of the central Mosel area with total holdings of 40 acres and an annual production of about 10,500 cases. Today Weingut Max Ferdinand Richter supplies a large variety of single vineyard wines where the terroir defines the wines. The steep vineyard sites are generally fresh weathering grey slate with different compositions of ferruginous , mineral quartz or clay parts and in part make the character and flavour of the wines. In order to reduce quantity and increase concentration, pruning is severe and in prolific years a vendange verte is carried out in August. The vintage is picked much later than that of most growers and is done entirely by hand. Three passes are done to select the best qualities to eliminate all inferior grapes and to keep perfect botrtytis bunches or single berries for Auslese qualities (12 x 75 cl)

Estancia Pinot Grigio California
Description: Roughly translated from the Spanish word for 'estate' Estancia's name emphasizes the founder's conviction that the world's best wines capture the essence of their place of origin. In 1986, Estancia purchased the former Paul Mason vineyard ranches in the Monterey town of Soledad to established it as the home of Estancia Winery and of cool climate varietals. The 1,200-acre Vineyard is situated on a frost-free benchland above Salinas Valley on California's Central Coast, in the Monterey town of Soledad. Cooled by morning and evening fog but far enough away from Monterey Bay to get a good daily dose of sun. The site is ideal for producing cooler climate varietals like Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay, due to the Sandy, naturally parched soil that produces bright and concentrated flavours that are reflected so well in this wine. Today, Estancia's winemakers strive to combine the best of both worlds- a state of the art winemaking facility, and a traditional, hands-on approach to each grape they produce. In the end, this combination of technology and tradition allows Estancia to deliver the hand-crafted quality for which these wines are known. While the cutting-edge facilities enable Estancia to take advantage of the beneficial advances in winemaking technology. Finally, Estancia's commitment to old world processes results in the complexity and elegance found in artisanal and boutique wines. This Pinot Gris has a little Chardonnay to add complexity to this pale straw coloured wine. A white forrest fruity nose of pear, peach and apple is evident and develops on the palate. The pear, peach, Golden Delicious apple, mineral and water chestnut flavours mingle together with white pepper accents of this medium bodied wine with vibrant fruit intensity.

Jean-Claude Boisset Saint Veran AC
Description: Saint-Véran AC covers nearly 600 hectares of vineyards, spread across six villages, which are divided into two main areas. The fruit for this wine was sourced from the more southerly sites near Chasselas and Saint- Véran, which tend to have a higher clay content than those in the north. The wines from these areas produce aromatic, minerally wines. The grapes are hand picked and put into small perforated boxes. Patriat has two sorting tables, with 10 people per table, looking for any grape that isn't fit to go into the fermenting vat. The wine is barrel fermented using natural yeasts . The malolactic fermentation took place in barrel. Patriat eschews battonage as he doesn't like the fatness it lends to wines, preferring instead to allow the inherent elegance of his wines to shine through unhindered. The wine was matured in barrel for 8 months before bottling, and underwent a very light filtration before bottling. (12 x 75 cl)

Terre da Vino PAESI TUOI Barolo DOCG
Description: Established in 1980, Terre da Vino is an association of vineyard owners from DOC and DOCG estates in Piedmont. With 2,500 wine growers it cultivates more than 4,000 hectares organised into 14 Wine Co-operatives, located in the classic area of production. With a new modern winery and a focus on quality production from the vineyard to the bottle this is an exciting time for Terre da Vino. With a rich historical tradition, the 'Paesi Tuoi' Barolo is the product of a skilful blend of carefully selected lots from two distinct areas. The Helvetian soils of Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga and Monforte produce Barolos of great character and structure, while the Tortonian terrain of Barolo, La Morra and Verduno yields more elegant and fragrant wines. Vinification adheres strictly both to traditional procedures and to the official regulations for Barolo. A 20-25-day fermentation at ca. 30oC guarantees adequate tannin and extraction for the formation of a complex and cellar-worthy structure. The wine then goes to large oak barrels where it matures for at least two years, followed by another year in glass to achieve perfect balance. It is ready to leave the cellars four years after its harvest date and it can be enjoyed at that point or it can be given an additional 10-15 years' cellaring. Deep garnet red coloured wine acquiring orangish tints after some years' bottle-ageing. The bouquet is voluptuous rich, warm and generous, with complex scents of spices, liquorice, and dried violets. This Barolo is dry, with extremely full flavours, and well-integrated tannins that serve to accentuate the wine's classic qualities. Available in half bottles. (12 x 37.5 cl)

Nobilo DRYLANDS Dry Riesling Marlborough NZ
Description: Steeped in history, Nobilo wines are proudly acclaimed as some of New Zealand's most respected pioneering wine brands. A Croat immigrant, Nikola Nobilo, whose family history and winemaking background stretches back over 300 years in Europe, led the way. The history of the company in New Zealand goes back to the early 1940's when this Croatian family, landed in New Zealand. They settled in Huapai, West Auckland, situated in the North Island of New Zealand, and started planting vines in 1943. The Nobilo family effectively persuaded and guided the New Zealand wine industry away from hybrid grape varieties and fortified wines, to a higher level of quality wine, now recognised and appraised by all markets. 'Searching for the best...' is the philosophy in the creation of the Drylands wines, reflecting the pride and inspiration of the winemaking team, led by Darryl Woolley and David Edmonds. They consider allowing the expression of the vineyard to follow through to the wine an important factor in the wines development. Drylands Vineyard is situated near the middle of the Wairau Valley Region, 30m above sea level, surrounding the Drylands Winery in Hammerichs Road, Blenheim. This wine uses select Marlborough fruit sourced from strict canopy managed vineyards, that promote even ripening of the fruit with full flavour development at lower total sugars. The nose shows fresh, ripe floral orange blossoms, limes and a touch of honeysuckle, while the palate follows through with crisp, fresh citrus fruit, which lingers. An elegantly styled Marlborough Riesling made for immediate drinking and for cellaring for those devoted to the 'developed Riesling' style.
