Schloss Vollrads CREST LABEL Riesling QbA Rheingau
Description: The Crest Label Riesling is bright and light in colour with fresh, floral perfumes on the nose. It is clean and racy on the palate with light citrus and crisp apple notes, finishing with a lemon/lime twist. In addition, sulphur levels at Schloss Vollrads are much lower than in most German wines because of the estate’s meticulous approach to hygiene and their eschewal of the use of suss-reserve. With nearly 800 years of viticulture experience, Schloss Vollrads is one of the oldest wine estates, not only in Germany, but probably in the world. Situated in the heart of the Rheingau, the estate’s 60 hectares of vineyards are planted exclusively with Riesling. The quality of the Schloss Vollrads wines is the culmination of the work done by Rowald Hepp since 1997. They have pristine Riesling flavours, unmarred by the addition of suss-reserve, stunning perfumes, great length, balance and a weight that derives from the natural ripeness of the fruit rather than sugar. The wine is sealed with Vinolok, a glass stopper that is, according to winemaker Rowald Hepp, every bit as good as Stelvin, especially for aromatic varieties like Riesling. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: The colour is light green/straw. The nose shows lots of complexity, with bright notes of grapefruit and mint, along with rich tones of melon and fig. The palate is focused, with elements of kiwi, lime, and subtle peach notes. As always, the finish is crisp and clean. The wines made by Dean de Korth and Dan Lee at Morgan, are in the top drawer from Monterey. Description: The founder Giulio Ferrari was born in 1879 and after a classical wine education that included studying at the Institute of Viticulture in Montpellier he decided to take on the french at their own game and in 1902 started his own vineyard. Successful but without a family to leave the estate too he choose a local producer to take over and develop the business. In 1952 Bruno Lunelli and his family took control and the name of the comapny was changed to Ferrari F.lli Lunelli and it has gone from strength to strength. Adopting the traditional method for producing sparkling wine this 100% Chardonnay is left a minimun of 36 months on its own lees before bottling. A blanc de blanc cremant it has been skillfully produced with just a hint of effervescence. A straw-yellow coloured sparkling wine with green hues, the bouquet is intense, fresh with fruit notes of ripe apple and field flowers. Clean and harmonious, with good fruit balance, it has a continuous bread and an enjoyable finish. (6 x 75 cl)
