Castello di Ama Chianti Classico DOCG
Description: Voted Winery of the Year 2005 by the Gambero Rosso, Ama’s history goes back to 1972 when four Roman families united to purchase the Ama estate with the goal of restoring it to the splendour of its 18th century heyday. New cellars were built, new plantings began with experimentation into non-indigenous varietals, and new methods of viticulture were pursued while in 1982. Marco Pallanti was introduced as winemaker. The grapes for this wine come from 63 hectares of specialised vineyards listed in the DOCG Chianti Classico Register of Vineyards. The vineyards lie at an altitude of 390-530 metres, in chalky-clay soils of gravel-pebbly texture. Planted between 1964 and 1978 at a density of 3,000 vines per hectare. Racy and refined, with mineral, berry, cherry and bark character. This is a full-bodied red with soft tannins and juicy fruit that deliver through to the long finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Quinta de Macedos TINTO Douro Portugal
Description: This ancient 6.5 Ha vineyard was bought by its present owners in 1998. The estate was in some disrepair and the Winery and House were duly renovated while the first wine was made at the property in 2000. The small vineyard produces tiny yields that result in wines of great complexity and intensity. These plots contain at least 16 different local grape varieties that appear in this wine. At the estate traditional methods have been observed allowing these wines to mature at their own pace in new oak barriques. Quinta de Macedos vines were planted in the 1920's and come from the two oldest plots in the vineyard while the wine develops real character afterspending 20 months in oak barrels. This has produced a deep red coloured wine that is hugely broody, intense and concentrated. This blend of traditional varietal is showing high toned ripe black fruits, layered with warm spice notes and a hint of oak on the palate, while the structure is immense with compact tannins and grip. Good acidity and complex ripe fruit flavours complement the long lingering finish of this wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Description: Bonny Doon Vineyard's are near the small town of Bonny Doon, just minutes North of Santa Cruz and it is here that they have produced a rose wine blended from grenache, marsanne, cinsault and sangiovese grapes. This wine is a Provencal style rose with charasmatic aromas of herbs, citrus rind, rosehips and hibiscus along with a very pleasing, mild astringency on the back palate. Description: Arlewood Estate was established in 1988 in the Willyabrup Valley of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. The Gosatti family in partnership planted a small vineyard near Cowaramup in 1995, and acquired Arlewood Estate in 1999. In October 2005, The Gosatti Family completed an outright purchase of Arlewood to pursue the vision that is starting to crystalise with the release of some wines worthy of their situation. The total area under vine is 15 hectares and the plantings include 17 year old Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon vines; 11 year old Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Franc; 10 year old Chardonnay, along with newer plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. This wine is a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon and all the fruit was sourced from Arlewood Estate vineyard; Willyabrup, Margaret River Appellation. Once in the winery the Sauvignon Blanc was tank fermented, while the Semillon component matured in new French oak barriques for 2 months. Made by Mark Messenger to the Arlewood his aim was to produce a style which delivers all the bright fruit and cleansing freshness that Margaret River is known for, with the added dimension that a barrel fermented portion of the blend delivers. The palate is bright and clear while the lean body and mouthfeel reveal cleansing acidity. Flavours of grapefruit and lime combine with savoury spice through to the enjoyable finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Verdad's mission is to make small amounts of delicious wines using Spanish grape varietals. Our goal is to make wines which express the true flavors of the varietal and the unique terroir in which they're grown. The aromas are lovely ripe raspberries and wild strawberries. It is medium bodied on the palate with a creamy mouth-feel. The wine explodes with vibrant berry flavors layered with watermelon and spice. The finish is long and crisp. A delicious, balanced rosé. The wine is a perfect pale rose-pink color with a touch of salmon. This rosé is composed of 85% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre. The Mourvèdre grapes were grown at Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyard in the upper Arroyo Grande Valley. The majority of Grenache is also from Rancho Arroyo Grande and a small part is from Alisos Vineyard in Los Alamos. (12 x 75 cl)
