Burmester 1990 COLHEITA Port
Description: W. Burmester was founded in 1750. Historically they bought their young wine from prime vineyards in the Upper Douro from contracted growers. In December 1991 they made a very important purchase of a 120 hectare property in the heart of the upper Douro, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, which has consolidated their reputation as serious Port producers and enabled them to offer their first single quinta Port in the great vintage of 1992. The Amorim family who success in the Portuguese cork industry has now purchased Burmester. It has brought new investment coupled with allowing Burmester to remain 100% under Portuguese ownership. The high quality of their Ruby and Tawny belies the competitive price at which they are offered, and they have many followers who enjoy their rich berry fruit characters. In addition to Vintage Port, Burmester also have an exciting range of old, sometimes very old, 'Colheitas' or vintage Tawny, which are today gaining recognition and popularity in the U.K (6 x 75 cl)

Charles Melton NINE POPES Barossa Valley South Australia
Description: The Barossa Valley Nine Popes is a blend of 54% Grenache, 44% Shiraz and 2% Mourvedre. It is deep coloured, with wonderful musky Grenache and just a touch of spicy, leathery Shiraz perfumes on the nose. A relatively cool vintage, with milder, wetter weather before harvest, this has resulted in a more perfumed, elegant wine than the drought year of 2003. It has a long length, with spicy blackberry perfumes on the finish. This was an excellent vintage for the Grenache in this blend and its quality shines through. Charles Melton Wines has produced premium Barossa red wines since 1984. Charlie and a small band of Barossa winemakers turned their winemaking efforts to what were then considered a couple of unfashionable varieties: Shiraz and Grenache. These wines were initially styled on those from the Rhône but are now considered leading examples of the varieties in their own right. Probably one of the only wine titles to grow out of linguistic incompetence, the origin of ‘Nine Popes’ is an interesting one! Once Charlie had settled on a Rhone blend, he decided to name the wine after the world's most famous wine from the southern Rhone, Châteauneuf du Pape. The problem was that his French skills were somewhat sketchy and he thought that Châteauneuf du Pape meant home of the ‘Nine’ popes. This wine is sealed under Stelvin closure to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition. (6 x 75 cl)

La Prendina ALTO MINCIO Pinot Grigio IGT Cascina
Description: The Azienda Agricola La Prendina was acquired in 1958 and at first the wines were sold under the Cavalchina brand. The first wine to use the name of La Prendina was a Merlot bottled in 1980 for Gualtiero Marchesi, but it was only in 1990 that we see the wines of La Prendina sold under the name La Prendina. In the vineyard La Prendina aims to grow full flavoured concentrated grapes while the task in the cellar is to express the nature of the grape and terroir. A yellow coloured wine with good fruit on the nose and palate. This Pinot Grigio is subtle and well balanced with a very satisfying texture. (12 x 75 cl)

Vesevo Taurasi DOCG Campania
Description: Vesevo Taurasi is deep red in colour with intense aromas of red berries. The wine is beautifully poised on the palate, with nice oak balance and a wonderful freshness. This wine is in a class of its own, as was attested to by the fact that it has won the Southern Italian Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards in three of the last four years, first with the 1998 vintage, then with the 2000 and 2001. Despite being so far south, the Irpinian hills of Campania is one of the last regions in Italy to harvest. Vesevo’s vineyards are situated at between 450 and 550 metres above sea level, and are influenced by a cool breeze that blows off the Bay of Naples. The flavours obtained in the vineyard are then preserved in the winery by Mario Ercolino – formerly winemaker at, and co-founder of, I Feudi di San Gregorio. (6 x 75 cl)
