Hartford Family Winery HARTFORD COURT SEASCAPE VINEYARD Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast California
Description: Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's appreciation for the wines, the people and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast. The fruit for the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is composed of exceptional, small block Pinot Noir vineyards located in the Sonoma Coast. Estate vineyards are the primary sources for this cepage, which is comprised of selected blocks from our Ross Road Vineyard , our Seascape and Annapolis Vineyards and a handful of growers within the Russian River Valley. Centuries old winemaking traditions from Burgundy are combined with twenty-first century technology to produce this juicy and delicious Pinot Noir. Hand harvesting in the cool of the morning, followed by meticulous hand sorting is a pre-requisite before de-stemming directly into open-top fermentors. Individual Pinot Noir batches are held at 50 degrees Fahrenheit for five to seven days before the grapes begin to ferment. During this cold soak, and throughout fermentation, the grapes are gently punched down by hand, to aid in the extraction of color and flavor while minimizing the extraction of hard or ‘unripe’ tannins from the seeds or stems. The wine is aged on fine sediment in small French oak barrels for 11 months and is racked once before bottling. Great care from the vineyard to the winery has produced a Pinot Noir showing aromas of rose petals, cherries, orange pekoe tea, lavender and smoke that are followed by flavours of ripe, red cherries, roasted plums, cinnamon, chocolate, anise and allspice. The complex aromas and dense, sweet mouthfeel are supported by centered acidity and fine grain tannins.

Planeta Chardonnay IGT Sicily
Description: Available in Magnum Bottles Planeta has risen spectacularly since inception in 1994, being named Winery of the Year 1999. The Chardonnay grapes are crushed and destemmed; the juice is clarified through settling cold overnight and then inoculated with a selected pure yeast. The fermentation is carried out in French oak barrels, where the wine is kept on his yeast lees for 10 months. This wine is a golden yellow colour with bright greenish hue and a very intense, fruity bouquet of citrus, matured apricot, light balsamic with hints of mint and sage as well as nut tones and orange blossom aftertaste. On the Palate it is dry and elegant with lively acidity well balanced by the alcohol and the wood aromas of the barrels.

Margan Shiraz SAIGNEE Hunter Valley New South Wales Australia
Description: TASTING NOTES : Light red in colour with a full soft nose. The characters of the wine are a combination of spicy pepper from the shiraz and lifted strawberry aromatics from the process. The palate is soft and full with crisp clean acid. It is a dry style of rose which is not a reflection of the presence of red grape tannins, rather the lack of residual sugar. The wine has been made to drink as a young wine and should be consumed nicely chilled. An ideal accompaniment to salads, pasta or barbeques. WINEMAKERS NOTES : The grapes for this wine were selected from three separate vineyard sites. The fruit was all picked at optimum ripeness and fermented separately. Each parcel of fruit was selected for the final blend as a result of its individual fruit characters. The Fordwich Hill portion was fermented in new French oak and left on its own lees for two months. This portion was given a further four months in barrel. The balance was fermented without oak. The wine was blended using the various proportions of the individual parcels to provide a wine with a multi-layered palate of intense primary fruit characters enhanced by the soft French oak characters. Minimal filtration was used on the wine prior to bottling (12 x 75 cl)

McHenry Hohnen Sauvignon Blanc Semillon Magaret River Australia
Description: The classic blend of Margaret River; in this case it's a 50/50 combination of these two exceptional bedfellows. Aromas of fresh gooseberry and passionfruit dominate tropical fruit aromas, working neatly into a generous mix of fresh cut grass and lemon citrus. The palate is intense but controlled and restrained with a fine acid and lingering, lively flavours. Fruit was sourced from southern Margaret River, a cooler part of the region which suits these two aromatic varieties. Viticultural practices, now taken as standard, have evolved over thirty years and to a large extent, this wine is made on the vine. It is a balancing act between leaf to crop ratio and the leaf's exposure to sunlight. The ability to harvest at night is all important. (12 x 75 cl)
