Adriano Ramos Pinto DUAS QUINTAS Vinho Tinto Douro
Description: Founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880, Casa Ramos Pinto rapidly became noted, at the time, for its innovative and enterprising strategy. Aware that the quality of its wines were confined to the terrior of the wine producing Douro, Casa Ramos Pinto meticulously studied the Demarcated Region of Douro and eventually became the owners of a number of estates with very special characteristics. The objective was to ensure the control and quality of the whole production process. By perfecting its wines, Ramos Pinto created unique nectars with its own signature and in 1990, Casa Ramos Pinto became part of the Roederer Group that has enabled it to develop and promote its wines to the international market. Duas Quintas is a blend of grapes from two very special Ramos-Pinto vineyards. Quinta da Ervamoira lies in a rocky, low altitude area on the banks of the river Caa. Here the grapes grow to full maturity in the hot, dry weather, contributing density and body to the blend. About 20 miles away lie the granite-filled vineyards of the Quinta dos Bons Ares. Situated at a higher altitude, the grapes here derive fresh aromas and lively flavours from the cooler growing conditions, adding lively vivacity to the finished wine. The colour of this wine is an intense brilliant ruby red, while it has floral and fruity aromas that are fine and elegant with fresh fruit such as grape and cherry evident, as well as a hint of vanilla. The wine has a fresh and aromatic attack, while the good acidity is set against the soft but lively tannins. Full-bodied and smooth, with a very fruity taste of cherry and blackberry, as well as a slight vanilla note at the end, the wine's finish is fresh, well balanced and persistent.. (12 x 75 cl)

Pierre Cros Domaine Cros TRADITION Rouge Minervois
Description: Situated in Badens, a few kilometres from Carcassonne, the vineyards of Domaine Cros sit on the poorest of poor shallow stony argilo-calcaire soils so stark and inhospitable in certain places that only the vine and the olive tree can scratch an existence. The love of this arid terroir, where the drought seems more extreme than elsewhere, has induced owner Pierre Cros to preserve ancient parcels of Aramon , Piquepoul Noir , Alicante and Carignan alongside the more classic 'noble' varieties of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. A more conventional blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah it yields sweet red fruits whilst retaining the warmth and herby grip of terroir. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Mourgues Du Gres LES GALETS Rose Costieres De Nimes
Description: The motto of the estate, taken from an old sundial outside the house, is sine sole nihil . The sun is in these wines. Les Gres is named after a specific terroir that is covered by the 'galets roules', or pudding stones, that were transported to this site by a glacial moraine and provides one of the defining characterisitics of the appellation of 'Costieres de Nimes'. The Galets Roses is a mostly Syrah based rose with a touch of Grenache to complete the blend. After the bleeding method used to create this rose, in which juice is bled and blended from other tanks prior to fermentation, this wine is then vinified and matured in stainless steel tanks for 6 months. Rigourous temperature control throughout fermentation preserves all of this wine's natural fruit and freshness. Its deep colour is due to the presence of the anthocynins and these were favoured by the alternating heat during the day followed by the relative cool of the evenings. Predominantly from vines more than forty years old Syrah with Grenache and a touch of Carignan and Mourvedre this wine is full, fresh and fruity, with good aromatic length. (12 x 75 cl)
