Concha y Toro CASILLERO DEL DIABLO Cabernet Sauvignon Maipo Valley Chile
Description: Casillero del Diablo offers wine lovers the very special opportunity to participate in the propagation of a century old legend known throughout the world. In the 19th century, the founder of Concha y Toro, Don Melchor, discovered that his vineyard workers were sampling his greatest wines. To discourage this action, Don Melchor spread the rumor that his deepest, darkest cellar was the Casillero del Diablo , so that no one would dare go in there. It worked, and a legend was born. Today, this mysterious and legendary cellar continues to hold the finest, estate grown wines of Casillero del Diablo. This wine is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Carmenere. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, 70% of the wine is aged in small American oak for six to eight months, 30% is aged in stainless steel for 8 months. A dark red coloured wine with a great bouquet of appealing ripe cherries, black currant and dark plums with a touch of vanilla and toasted oak. It is medium bodied with smooth and friendly tannins, well structured, perfectly balanced and boasts a satisfying and lingering finish. Available in Half Bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl)

Lyeth L de LYETH Merlot Sonoma County California
Description: Jean-Charles Boisset hankered after Lyeth, a cult winery, for over a decade before buying it in 1994 and instilled the original winemaker Bill Arbois to produce wines that reflect the great growing potential of Sonoma County. Today, Sonoma County's maritime proximity provides the stable, mild climate that is perfect for the production of premium Merlot. They source the grapes throughout the county and aim to create a balanced blend that embodies the true taste of Sonoma. The wine has an attractive minty aroma and soft yet rounded fruit on the palate that is nicely buttressed by grainy tannins. Established by Chip Lyeth in 1981, Lyeth was one of the first wineries in California to pursue the unique complexity and composition achieved by the marriage of Cabernet Sauvignon with the other major Bordeaux varieties, now known as the Meritage style. The term 'Meritage' is a combination of the words 'merit' and 'heritage'. Lyeth became a founding member of the Meritage Association in1988, which created the Meritage concept as a means of identifying blends produced in the Bordeaux style. Today it continues the tradition of blending outstanding wines, winning praise from critics and consumers worldwide. (12 x 75 cl)

Bodegas Alicia Rojas SOLARCE Crianza Tinto Rioja DO
Description: Bodegas Alicia Rojas has a long and rich history that begins in 1920. In his first traditional cellar in Laguardia, Mr Gonzalo Rojas began making wines from the indigenous grape Tempranillo and soon began ageing them in oak, something he had learnt from a trip to Bordeaux. His wines were soon held in high esteem and this, along with his commitment to the growth of the wine business in Rioja, soon saw him appointed to the Administrative Council. Today the Rojas family wines are still highly rated and they produce both ordinary Tinto and Crianza as well as an organic version of both under the Solarce label. (12 x 75 cl)

Quinta do Carmo DOM MARTINHO Alentejano Portugal
Description: Owner of Chateau Lafite Rothschild for five generations, the Rothschild family has been based in this Bordeaux vineyard since 1868. High values and the respect of traditional methods make them passionate about harmony and excellence. Their wines bear witness to that passion year after year and their skills have patiently enriched the wines through the generations, with world-renowned success. Over the years, Domain Baron de Rothschild has expanded its offerings through the acquisition of several french Chateau's as well as ventures in Argentina. However, in 1992, Julio Bastos, owner of Quinta do Carmo called on Domaines Barons de Rothschild in order to renovate the property. The primary goal was to combine the traditional Alentejo winemaking techniques with the skill of the DBR teams and also unite the expression of traditional portuguese grape varieties with other new and noble varieties thus enhancing complexity and elegance. The plan has led to new plantations and the renovation of the vineyards, including systematic tying up of the vines and a limitation of yields. Major investments were also made in the Herdade das Carvalhas chais, including a new cellar, the purchase of stainless steel vats with temperature monitoring and pneumatic presses. Now integrated into Domaines Barons de Rothschild , Quinta do Carmo features a 150 hectare vineyard that is gradually reaching maturity. This renewal has done much to enhance the wines, and the first vintages under the new management reveals clearly the excellent combination of the 'Terroir' and the 'savoir faire!' This wines name comes from one of the key parcels named Dom Martinho and is Quinta do Carmo's second wine. A blend of Tempranillo, or Aragonez as it is known locally, Alicante and Periquita that make up 60% (12 x 75 cl)
