The grapes were hand harvested in the last three weeks of September from our 335-acre Carneros estate vineyard. Due to the region's meager soils and cooling afternoon winds, Carneros has become synonymous with the production of superb Chardonnay. With a warm growing season and a cool fall, the 2001 vintage will be remembered for its fast pace and an ideal, cool finish that yielded perfectly ripe, aromatic wines. This Chardonnay defies convention, blending elements of richness, bright fruit and substantial natural acidity into one splendid wine. DESCRIPTION Ripe pineapple and mango aromas are intermingled with citrus blossom and toffee elements in the bouquet. Explosive tropical, citrus and toast flavors are enveloped in a textural richness, which is beautifully offset by the wine's ample acidity. WINEMAKING • 100% Estate fruit • Whole cluster pressed to minimize extraction of bitter compounds • 100% barrel fermented • Partial malolactic fermentation balances the wine and contributes richness and complexity to the blend, while maintaining lively natural acidity • Battonage was performed every three weeks for six months to contribute richness to the palate (6 x 75 cl)

Gloria Ferrer Cameros Pinot Noir California
Description: On our 335-acre estate in Carneros, no less than 11 soil types and a wide variety of clones and terrain combine with the daily fog and wind to produce exceptional Pinot Noir. For 18 years we've studied Carneros and its relationship to our vines. With this knowledge of our terroir as a guide, the estate Pinot Noir gains complexity and consistency with each passing year. One of our most exceptional wines to date, this Pinot Noir exhibits a range of complex aromas, graceful fruit characteristics and a silken texture on the palate. DESCRIPTION The bouquet opens with aromas of ripe cherry and boysenberry, gradually revealing a complex earth element and spicy toast notes in the background. The palate is supple and balanced, with flavors that mirror the aromas through an extended finish. WINEMAKING • 100% Estate grapes • Colmar, Wadenswil, Trefethen, Dijon 115, Martini, UCD 32, Pommard and Jackson clones were chosen for the blend • Individual vineyard lots were destemmed, gently crushed and cold-soaked for three days to extract color and aromas • A variety of traditional and modern maceration techniques were employed during fermentation to extract fruit character without bitterness • Only free run wine was used to create the final blend • The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel and was not racked in order to preserve the inherent delicacy • Barrel aged for nine months in 100% French oak barrels coopered by Francois Frères, Billon, Cadus and Damy among others • Bottled unfined (6 x 75 cl)

Palliser Estate PENCARROW Chardonnay Martinborough NZ
Description: In the renowned Martinborough Terrace region Palliser Estate has approximately 85 hectares under Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris grape varieties. Palliser Estate have found that even over the relatively small area they cultivate, there are great differences in soil types and climate which all help to add complexity to the wines it crafts. The Pencarrow range is the second wine of Palliser Estate. Under this label Palliser are able to experiment with the grape to develop new wine styles from traditional varietals. The wine was fermented in a mixture of American and French oak barrels. It remained on lees in cask for seven months with 10% of the wine spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts. Care in the winery has produced a very attractive nose of ripe stone fruits and floral characters with a hint of sweet oak and creamy notes. The palate shows delicious mouth feel, full of ripe fruits, and is beautifully textured and smooth right to the finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: AROMA: Pear, white peach, dried apricot and almond aromas, with notes of citrus and honey. TASTE: Displays pear and dried apricot flavours. This exquisite wine is rich and complex, with a good balance between sugar and acidity and a long, dry finish. VINIFICATION: The grapes for this wine were produced from the same vineyard as the Expresión Sauvignon Blanc. The bunches were left on vines for four weeks after the normal harvest allowing them to naturally develop botrytis and concentrate sugars. The grapes were pressed for seven and half hours and the juice was fermented in 300 litre French oak barrels. The wine was then aged in the same barrels for 28 months. (12 x 37.5 cl)

J Lohr RIVERSTONE Chardonnay Arroyo Secco Monterey California
Description: The 2001 vintage marked the fifteenth year of producing the Riverstone Chardonnay, from vineyards in the town of Greenfield in Monterey County. Each year, starting in 1995, Lohr have incorporated higher percentages of traditional Burgundian production techniques into Riverstone, until the desired complexity was achieved . This includes more malo-lactic fermentation and sur lie ageing with lees stirring, which in turn creates a wine of greater complexity and nuance. The vines are grown primarily on Elder loam soils underlain by riverstones deposited over thousands of years from the Arroyo Seco River, allowing a four-foot rooting zone that keeps the vine's vegetative growth and fruit in balance. Additionally, the cool climate and winds of the Salinas Valley extend the growing season and retain the natural grape acids and intense varietal character of the Chardonnay. The Riverstone Chardonnay is straw yellow in colour. The Arroyo Seco appellation terroir-based aromas of lime and grapefruit zest, nectarine, green apricots and wet stones are complemented by a smoky, butter, vanilla and toasted oak bouquet from the barrel fermentation and sur lie ageing. The flavours echo the aromas with citrus, stone fruits, butter, and smoky, toasty oak, producing layers of complexity with an excellent balance of acidity and palate weight. Available in Half Bottles.
