The grapes were harvested in the first 10 days of October then Maceration on the skins in rotary fermenters for about 7-8 days. The Wine was then aged 24 months in oak and approximately a further 12 months in bottle. The 2000 vintage is packed with of plum, prune and coffee aromas that are also prevalent on the palate. Fattoria Le Casalte Vino Nobile de Montepulciano
Description: To the outside world, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano must qualify as Italy's greatest wine secret. The old image of dried-out wines aged too long in wood is taking longer to disappear than the old wines themselves. Which means that while, wine-wise, Montepulciano is moving to share center stage with Brunello and Chianti, its prices and reputation have yet to catch up. Made from Prugnolo gentile and Canaiolo nero, this wine has a perfumed nose of ripe strawberries, tuffles and licorice. Full-bodied, with ripe black fruit, leather and black licorice. Good firm tannins and extremely long length. (6 x 75 cl)

Description: The name Rocca delle Macie is synonymous with quality and good value. The company was started by film-maker, Italo Zingarelli, in 1973. The winery is now in the hands of the son, Sergio, who, like his father, lays great importance on the careful selection of grape varieties, careful pruning and the use of organic fertilisers to enhance the maximum ripening of the fruit. An even split blend of Cabernet Sauvignon , Sangiovese this is an intense ruby red coloured wine, becoming garnet over time. Ample, persistent and elegant on the nose with a pronounced toasty component imparted by the barriques. This wine is particularly soft and robust on the palate. Available in 1.5 Litre Magnum bottles.
