Straw-yellow colour with some golden hues, it has a strong and long-lasting bouquet with a slight taste of acacia and elder flower, banana and ripe pears. On the palate is soft, round and full-bodied. Ca’ Rugate takes the name from the hill of volcanic origin, at the centre of the Soave Classico area, in which its vineyards are positioned. (9 x 50 cl)

Chateau De Lascaux LES NOBLES PIERRES Pic St Loup Coteaux du Languedoc
Description: Les Nobles Pierres is an of assemblage 90% Syrah and 10% old Grenache vines and aged in Allier oak barrels for twelve months. A lovely deep red colour showing a complex but elegant nose of vanilla, red fruits, pepper and tapenade. An excellent attack, with silky, melted tannins it is fat, voluminous, and round. A long finish of great complexity, on notes of vanilla, licorice, laurel, pepper and olives, finesse and elegance are the essential characteristics of this wine. A well-known estate taken over by Jean-Benoit Cavalier in 1984 which seems to be on the right tracks again after a few years in the doldrums. The vineyards are situated in the communes of Vacquieres and Corconne north east of the Pic Saint Loup. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Heresztyn Pinot Noir Bourgogne
Description: An estate founded by a former Polish vineyard worker of Louis Trapet. Domaine Heresztyn has been one of the consistently fine producers in Gevrey Chambertin. However, as Florence Heresztyn increasingly takes the reins, they have clearly reached another level of quality. The Bourgogne Pinot Noir comes from vines grown on sand, clay and stony chalk, a terroir that confers elegance and fruit. Both the soil and the vineyard are worked to ensure high quality fruit: leaf-thinning, green harvesting and lutte raisonnée. The grapes undergo a prefermentation maceration in stainless and concrete for eight days, then a further five days alcoholic fermentation before being aged in futs de chene for sixteen months. Chateau Saint Ahon Cru Bourgeois Haut-Medoc
Description: A 31-hectare estate divided into different parcels with vineyards mainly on a mixture of gravels and flint soils. With the vines being fairly youthful high-density planting is necessary . The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 28%, Cabernet Franc 10% and Petit Verdot 2%. Respect for nature includes the use of manures made from animal and vegetable material. The harvest is manual with a table de tri to sort the grapes. Once in the winery the grapes undergo a long fermentation of 18-21 days in stainless steel and cement vats. The wine is then aged in barriques for twelve to fifteen months and fined with egg white before bottling. Deep ruby wine showing some development at the rim. Classy nose of soft autumn fruits, damsons and blackcurrants with a hint of sweet spice. Dry and full-bodied with firm tannic structure and good weight of ripe fruit with hints of cassis. A lingering finish gives the wine character and definition. (6 x 75 cl)

Cape Mentelle Cabernet Merlot Margaret River Western Australia
Description: Cape Mentelle Vineyards, established by David and Mark Hohnen and now part of the Moet Hennessy Wine Estates, is a specialist producer of premium wines in Margaret River in the south west corner of Western Australia. One of the country's finest wine regions, Margaret River enjoys a maritime location, with the added advantage of a long dry growing season. Cape Mentelle was one of the first vineyards established in the Margaret River region. First planted in 1970, there are today over 180 hectares under vine and the winery was constructed in 1977. Cape Mentelle Vineyards, is committed to the concept of true regional styles and will continue to expand its operations to produce quality wines. The company believes that the role of specialist wineries lies in the production of premium wines from varieties best suited to specific regions. Emphasis is placed on individual fruit character and the development of a recognisable estate wine style. This blend of Cabernet sauvignon and merlot is sourced from the estate's Trinders Vineyard and three long-term growers within the Margaret River region. Great care is taken in the vineyard and this is reflected in the the winery where light crushing is followed by a warm fermentation before cooling down to 25 ï C for the completion of fermentation. Regular pumping over for colour, flavour and tannin extraction occurs during the vigorous phase of ferment, tapering off towards the end. The degree of tannin extraction is determined by taste to achieve a balanced level of tannin mouthfeel. Batches are treated individually with skin contact ranging from 4 to 28 days. Each batch is given a light pressing; the harder pressings are separated. Once dry, the wine is inoculated for malolactic fermentation which occurs in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is racked to 50:50 French and American oak barrels for 15 months. This has produced a final blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Lovely fruit driven wine. it is a deep crimson purple coloured wine. Showing intense aromas of aniseed, herb garden, plum with some cedar, it is a quite perfumed wine. Well poised the aromas are evident in the palate as the aniseed, plum and cedar flavours dominate this blend, while the fine slinky tannins have become leafy firm at the finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Dominique Roger LE CHENE MARCHAND Sancerre
Description: Domaine du Carrou is the personal estate of Dominique Roger. He represents the younger generation of vignerons keen to combine tradition with modern techniques.The vineyards have a very shallow top soil under which one finds a hard chalky soil, which imparts that subtle floral scent to his wines. Sourced exclusively from vineyard sites around the town of Sancerre in the upper Loire valley, the grapes are lightly pressed and chilled immediately upon reception at the winery. Fermentation is in steel tanks and temperature controlled in order to preserve the varietal flavours of the Sauvignon Blanc grapes. No oak, filtered and fined before bottling. A grassy nose with hints of gooseberries; well balanced palate with a good concentration of fruit and racy acidity.
