Bremerton MATILDA PLAINS Cabernet Shiraz Merlot Langhorne Creek South Australia
Description: Matilda Plains is an exciting new range from the Bremerton stable. Bremerton is a small family owned winery in the prestigious Langhorne Creek region of South Australia. The Bremerton story began in 1985 when Craig and Mignonne Willson purchased the property and established a long term restoration and development plan. The winery was established in 1988 and now has 110 acres planted at Langhorne Creek and is joint owner and manager of another 180 acres from which it selects the best fruit each year for its wines. The winemaking team headed by family member and winemaker Rebecca Willson has taken the quality of the wines to new standards. Rebecca seeks the best possible fruit from the Bremerton Estate and other specialised Langhorne Creek vineyards to craft traditional, full bodied, full flavoured, mouth filling Langhorne Creek wines that show a consistency of style whilst encouraging the true varietal grape characteristics to be expressed. Matilda Plains provides a modern, unique, and delicious range of wines. The distinctive label features the Willson family's much loved border collie Matilda helping in the vineyard. Matilda Plains Winery is located in Langhorne Creek, South Australia where Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot have been traditionally grown for over 100 years. This wine is a blend of 44% Shiraz, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot. It was fermented in open top fermenters allowing maximum extraction of colour and flavour. The wine was then matured in American oak for 12 months prior to blending and bottling. This wine is a deep opaque purple colour with aromas of dark forrest fruits as well as hints of earth, chocolate and mocha. A well balanced blend with soft well-integrated tannins, spicy flavours and a long finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Matilda Plains provides a modern, unique, and delicious range of wines. The distinctive label features the Willson family's much loved border collie Matilda helping in the vineyard. Matilda Plains Winery is located in Langhorne Creek, South Australia where grapes have been traditionally grown for over 100 years. This Sauvignon Blanc has been made from fruit grown in Langhorne Creek as well as fruit from the neighbouring Currency Creek region and has captured the true characteristics of this aromatic variety. Once the harvest is comple the grapes are crushed and the free run juice was drained, cooled and allowed to settle. The juice was then racked off lees and inoculated with yeast for a long, cool ferment. Following fermentation, the wine was filtered and bottled with no oak influence. A pale yellow coloured zesty Sauvignon Blanc it is fresh with fruity aromas. A balanced but lively palate this wine is displaying a hint of apple and citrus fruits with good acid structure and a crisp refreshing finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Bremerton RACY ROSE Shiraz Cabernet Langhorne Creek South Australia
Description: The Bremerton story began in 1985 when Craig and Mignonne Willson purchased the property and established a long term restoration and development plan. The winery was established in 1988 and now has 110 acres planted at Langhorne Creek and is joint owner and manager of another 180 acres from which it selects the best fruit each year for its wines. Best quality practices ensure best quality grapes and the Bremerton vineyards predominantly grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot, with small plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Chardonnay, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The winery has invested heavily in a premium French & Amercian oak program using 220 litre barriques to ensure subtle and complementary oak influences. The winery utilises tradtional open top fermenters, made from stainless steel and a purpose built barrel cellar for maturation. New laboratory and tasting facilities have also been added to the winery. The best parcels of Shiraz had some of their juice drained off when the extraction colour was perfect, the juice was then cooled, settled and racked. A yeast was chosen that would enhance the natural characters of the berry and the ferment was treated just like a delicate white. The wine was then stabilised, filtered and bottled. This is the third vintage of Racy Rose, produced from 100% estate grown fruit. The philosophy behind this rose is to produce a wine that is easy drinking. The colour is bright and vibrant with a nose that shows wonderfully lifted crushed strawberry and watermelon characteristics. As the name suggests the palate is vibrant and racy with sweet cherry while the finish is dryer than most rose's, flavorsome and refreshing. (12 x 75 cl)

Bressan Pinot Nero Farra d'Isonzo Gorizia Friuli
Description: The Bressan Mastri Vinai winery, located within the town of Mariano del Friuli in the Gorizia province, dates back to the 1600's. Their vineyards are drenched in rich Celtic history in the form of the strategic landscape of Farra d'Isonzo and the winemaking philosophy is founded on family values and a respect for the land and the ancient culture, where limpid horizons seem to capture sensations, colours, scents and flavours most effectively. Where the slopes of the Collio region fade gently and open up on to the Isonzo river valley these vineyards are located on a segment of land shielded to the north by the Julian Alps and open to the hot winds of the Adriatic Sea from the south, where a rare mixture of natural elements have combined to create a unique and inimitable "terroir." With this natural protection extreme climatic conditions are avoided, and moderate weather permits early development of the entire growing cycle by several days with respect to vineyards that are farther from the river, thus granting grapes with excellent levels of maturation. Fulvio Luca Bressan, a classically trained Bordeaux winemaker and descended from a family long dedicated to the vines, cuts no corners when it comes to making wine. Like many in Friuli, he's of the opinion that varietals such as Pinot Nero and Cabernet Sauvignon do not "belong" to the French, since those varietals have been cultivated by their ancestors since the early nineteenth century. He believes that these grapes have not only a home in Friuli, but can reflect in their quality and terroir that long history, and be among the finest in the world. For him, the fruit and its pips dictate readiness for harvest, and wood treatment should always reflect subtly in the finished juice. The Pinot Nero is ruby red, dry and aromatic, a veritable jewel of nuances, including smoked wood, truffle, raspberry and wild blackberry, revealing a bouquet of underbrush and musk when mature.
