Argento Wine Company LIBERTAD Malbec/Shiraz Mendoza Argentina
Description: Tasting Note Ripe, juicy red with smooth tannins and bags of fruit. Raspberry, violets and blackberries dominate the nose with a touch of vanilla enhancing the berries on the palate. 13% A 50-50 blend of Argentina's best red grape, Malbec and Bonarda, a long-term Italian ex-pat that is doing great things in the hills around Mendoza. The result is a ripe, full fruited wine with bags of spicy character to make it stand out from the crowd. Superb value, it would make a happy partner for a ribeye steak grilled medium rare. A bit about Libertad Libertad are produced by Argento, which since its launch in 1999 has quickly become the leading range of wines from Argentina in the UK and represents an exciting new era in Argentine winemaking. Argiolas TURRIGA VdT Sardinia
Description: Argiolas began in 1918, when Francesco Argiolas started from scratch and planted the first vineyard with the assistance of some prisoners of war. Now three generations of the family are present together: the patriarch Antonio, his two sons and his grandchildren. The Argiolas owned vineyards at Turriga, in the Selegas area, near Piscina Trigus supply all the grapes for this fantastic wine. Argiolas consider this their best and most worthwhile of all our vineyards, at an altitude of approximately 230 metres above sea level the exposition is truly excellent. As soon as the so-called 'Finissage' fermentation is complete, which occurs immediately after the malo-lactic stage, the wine is stored in new, French oak casks for approximately 18 months, during which three passages and one collage are carried out. After ageing in wood, the wine is immediately bottled in order to enhance the development of the wines bouquet. Due to ageing in new oak this wine is a Dark, but intense, ruby red colour, while the bouquet is full-bodied and elegant. The palate is well-rounded, heavy with an extremely individual and pleasing structure that is complemented by the refined tannins and vanilla-oak flavours. Very limited availability. (6 x 75 cl)
