Light, pale lemon yellow in colour, the Delta Sauvignon Blanc has tremendous intensity on the nose, with perfumes of passion fruit and blackcurrants. On the palate, it is clean and fresh, with good balance between elegant, ripe fruit, crisp minerally acidity and a long, perfumed finish. Sheena Gray, wife of winemaker Matt Thomson, bought this 10 hectare site in Marlborough’s Dillon’s Point in 2001. Matt is convinced that the slightly cooler nights in this sub-region produce wines with more aromatic qualities than other areas. Together with Malcolm Adams, a viticulturist with more than 20 years experience, Matt and Sheena have created one of Marlborough’s mosts outstanding vineyards for Sauvignon Blanc. The soils have a high mineral content and good drainage due to the sand lying beneath the soil’s surface. The wine is bottled under the Stelvin closure, so that it can be enjoyed free from cork taint and in perfect condition. (12 x 75 cl)

Delta Vineyards HATTERS HILL Pinot Noir Marlborough NZ
Description: Lovely purity and liveliness of fruit. It shows typical black cherry perfume on the nose, with lively yet supple fruit on the palate supported by fine grained tannins. The 40-hectare Delta Vineyard site in Marlborough was bought in 2001 by four partners, amongst whom are winemaker Matt Thomson and UK based wine importer David Gleave MW. It was planted solely with Pinot Noir in 2002 and 2003 and produced its first vintage in 2004. The combination of low vigour clay soils and the best of the new Dijon clones gives us superb fruit, some of the best Pinot I've ever worked with in Marlborough, says Thomson. (6 x 75 cl)

Deltetto BRAJA Roero DOCG
Description: Intense ruby red colour showing a bouquet of violets and mature fruit, elegant tannin and great structure make it suitable for a long ageing period. This Roero D.O.C.G. comes from the 'Braja' vine-yard and means 'Shout'. Located in the borough of Santo Stefano Roero, the land is particularly suitable for the cultivation of Nebbiolo grapes that are used in making this wine. Once in the winery the fruit is macerated in its own skins for 7 days at 28°C, next it will spend 18 months in barriques and casks of French oak and finally a further 6 months in bottle before release. The Deltetto company was founded in 1953 by Carlo Deltetto in Canale, the historical centre of the Roero, a land separated from the Langhe by the river Tanaro. In a territory of great grape-growing tradition, Carlo immediately adopted a philosophy concerning the quality of the traditional vines like the Nebbiolo and Barbera without neglecting the Arneis and Favorita whites in their perfect habitat on the steep hills of the Roero. Today the company is still family run and there are now approx 20 hectares of vine-yards in the boroughs of Canale, Santo Stefano Roero and Castellinaldo. Here the production is equally divided between the reds and whites. (6 x 75 cl)

Deltetto SARVAI Favorita Langhe Piemonte
Description: The Langhe Favorita Sarvai is a medium-bodied wine with a highly delicate orange-blossom scent that mingles with hints of honey, raspberry and stone fruits. On the palate it is crisp and fresh with lots of tangy fruit, again raspberry with citrus too. Good acidity makes this wine really fresh and lively. Antonio Deltetto has 15 hectares of vineyard in the Roero, the gently hilly region on the northern bank of the Tanaro. The soil is sandier in the Roero, and as a result the wines are more aromatic and less structured than those in the Langhe hills on the south bank. (6 x 75 cl)
