Georges Vernay created the family business with 1.5 hectares of AOC Condrieu 'Coteau du Vernon' vineyards. Towards the end of the 1940's, Georges became one of the most ardent defenders and saviours of the Appellation, then about to disappear. Today, the vinification is assured by his children Luc and Christine Vernay and they now own 16 hectares undervine throughout the region. However, 7 hectares are in the appellation Condrieu, of which 3 hectares are old vines. This vineyard produce two prestigious vintages, called the 'Coteau de Vernon' and 'Les Chaillées de l'Enfer'. Both vintages represent the quintessence of Condrieu's Viognier vine. These exquisite incomparable white wines with their golden colour are of great nobleness, full-bodied, unctuous and persistent. This wine comes from 40 year-old vines grown on steep granite slopes that can only be worked manually. Maturation in cask on fine lees gives a full-flavoured wine, while retaining the fresh fruit characteristic of top Viognier. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Gerard Chavy Puligny Montrachet AC
Description: The Domaine Gérard Chavy owns 27 acres of vineyards, and nearly all are in the village of Puligny-Montrachet, as well as a few rows of vines in neighboring Meursault. The Domaine Gérard Chavy, now run by Gérard's sons Jean-Louis and Alain, with this substantial acreage in the appellation provides the rare opportunity of offering reasonable quantities of domaine-bottled Puligny-Montrachet. Smoky, round, full and buttery style the wine lover can tell from aromas alone that Gérard Chavy wines are classic white Burgundies. Without the overly forward candy/fruit character of New World wines, these Chardonnays are made to drink with dinner. Their Puligny vines average 25 years old and the wine is 70% barrel fermented and 30% tank fermented, the 1999 vintage has produced a wine vibrant, fresh, crisp and minerally with a long finish. Available in Half Bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl)

Domaine Gerard Tremblay 1er Cru MONTMAIN 1er Cru Chablis
Description: Gerard Tremblay and his wife, Helene, oversee a domain that they inherited in a line of five generations, but which they have mostly built themselves. With 80 acres of vines under production, most of them in the best 'premier cru' and 'grand cru' appellations, their list of Chablis is among the most prestigious in the region. The forty-year-old vines in the Montmain vineyard contribute to the extra weight in this wine. 30% of the wine is aged in futs de chene. A fine wine with a profound mineral nose, deceptive weight and a lingering finish. The domain has a superb new winery, allowing them excellent conditions in which to bring out the quality of the fruit that these vineyards produce. The entire winery works by gravity, avoiding unnecessary manipulations of the fruit or pumping of juices. Grapes are brought directly from the fields and put into pneumatic presses. The juice is then left to settle for more 12 hours before being stocked in stainless steel tanks with individual temperature controls. Strict hygiene and careful temperature control are the keys to mastering quality fermentation in Chardonnay. Available in 37.5 cl Half Bottles. (12 x 37.5 cl)
