Hartford Family Winery HARTFORD Chardonnay Sonoma Coast California
Description: Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's appreciation for the wines, the people and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast. The grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning and clusters are hand sorted before a gentle pressing. The juice is fermented in small, French oak barrels, for 10 months, utilising the native yeasts present on the skins of the grapes at harvest. Allowing the indigenous yeast to ferment the Chardonnay juice helps us to craft wines with enormous complexity while retaining more character from each vineyard site. The Sonoma Coast Chardonnay presents perfumed aromas of vanilla, jasmine flower and crisp green apples complemented by fresh pineapple, kiwi, peach and Pippin apple flavours. A supple and complex fruit dominated mid-palate is enhanced by this wine’s fine texture and subtle minerality on the finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Hartford Family Winery HARTFORD COURT SEASCAPE VINEYARD Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast California
The fruit for the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is composed of exceptional, small block Pinot Noir vineyards located in the Sonoma Coast. Estate vineyards are the primary sources for this cepage, which is comprised of selected blocks from our Ross Road Vineyard , our Seascape and Annapolis Vineyards and a handful of growers within the Russian River Valley. Centuries old winemaking traditions from Burgundy are combined with twenty-first century technology to produce this juicy and delicious Pinot Noir. Hand harvesting in the cool of the morning, followed by meticulous hand sorting is a pre-requisite before de-stemming directly into open-top fermentors. Individual Pinot Noir batches are held at 50 degrees Fahrenheit for five to seven days before the grapes begin to ferment. During this cold soak, and throughout fermentation, the grapes are gently punched down by hand, to aid in the extraction of color and flavor while minimizing the extraction of hard or ‘unripe’ tannins from the seeds or stems. The wine is aged on fine sediment in small French oak barrels for 11 months and is racked once before bottling. Great care from the vineyard to the winery has produced a Pinot Noir showing aromas of rose petals, cherries, orange pekoe tea, lavender and smoke that are followed by flavours of ripe, red cherries, roasted plums, cinnamon, chocolate, anise and allspice. The complex aromas and dense, sweet mouthfeel are supported by centered acidity and fine grain tannins.

Hartford Family Winery HARTFORD COURT SEVEN'S BENCH VINEYARD Pinot Noir Carneros California
Sevens Bench Vineyard is a small vineyard block on Duhig Road in Napa/Carneros. The name Sevens Bench is derived from the two predominate clones, Dijon 667 and Dijon 777, planted at the vineyard. These Dijon clones produce a wine with intense fruit aromas, an expansive mid-palate, and fine-grained tannins. Aromas of raspberries and sandalwood converge with exotic east-asian spices and earth elements to produce an amazingly complex wine. Wonderfully lush in the mouth with pomegranate, black cherry and spice flavours, framed by sweet, generous tannins, it has astounding concentration and depth. (6 x 75 cl)

Hartford Family Winery HARTFORD COURT THREE JACKS VINEYARD Chardonnay Russian River Valley
Three Jacks Vineyard is a small seven-acre property jointly owned by Joe and Steve Dutton. The Duttons refer to the vineyard as Triple J-S vineyard. We began writing JJJ’s on each barrel, and soon the winery workers began calling the wine Three Jacks, and the name stuck. The vineyard is planted with four very distinctive Chardonnay clonal selections: the Raffo and Rued Chardonnay field selections, Dijon Clone 96 and UC Davis Clone 15. Each clone is picked and fermented separately and only the best barrels from each lot are blended to make the final bottling. This cool vineyard site in the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley produces Chardonnay with remarkable personality. Old Wente and Dijon Clones greatly inspire the wine’s floral bouquet and flamboyant fruit qualities. Aromas of Meyer lemon, spiced apple and candied ginger give way to a crushed stone and mineral laden finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Hartford Family Winery HARTFORD Zinfandel Russian River Valley California
Description: Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's appreciation for the wines, the people and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast. The fruit for the Russian River Valley Zinfandel is a blend of old-vine, dry farmed and low yielding Zinfandel vineyards predominately from the Russian River Valley. These old vineyards offer an impressive articulation of this idiosyncratic varietal. Zinfandel grown in the Russian River Valley is distinctive due to this region’s cool maritime influence. Bright, natural acidity and vibrant fruit aromas and flavours are a result of typically cool fog-laden nights and warm days. These dry-farmed vineyards planted on low-fertility soils consistantly produce wines of exceptional density, and legendary extract. This old-vine Zinfandel provides alluring aromas of blackberry, sweet pipe tobacco, black pepper and anise complemented by flavours reminiscent of fresh baked blackberry pie with allspice, anise and caramel notes on the finish. Stunningly rich and concentrated, this Russian River Valley Zinfandel has incredible definition of fruit and sweet luscious tannins. To preserve the exotic spice and sweet berry flavours, this wine was neither fined nor filtered. (12 x 75 cl)
