The Palliser Estate brand is the Flagship range from this company with a justified international reputation. This Chardonnay comes from the original vineyard planted in 1984 and is creamy with toasty aromas to begin with, followed by ripe peaches and honeypuffs. The palate is concentrated, textured and mouthfilling with melon and stonefruit flavours balanced by spicy oak and a cleansing acidity. Description: In the renowned Martinborough Terrace region Palliser Estate has approximately 85 hectares under Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris grape varieties. Palliser Estate have found that even over the relatively small area they cultivate, there are great differences in soil types and climate which all help to add complexity to the wines it crafts. The Pencarrow range is the second wine of Palliser Estate. Under this label Palliser are able to experiment with the grape to develop new wine styles from traditional varietals. The wine was fermented in a mixture of American and French oak barrels. It remained on lees in cask for seven months with 10% of the wine spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts. Care in the winery has produced a very attractive nose of ripe stone fruits and floral characters with a hint of sweet oak and creamy notes. The palate shows delicious mouth feel, full of ripe fruits, and is beautifully textured and smooth right to the finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Additionally, the label on the bottle depicts the landmark lighthouse at Pencarrow Heads situated to the east of Palliser Bay at the entrance to Wellington harbour. An alluring silky-textured Pinot bursting with Plum, Raspberry and black berry aromas followed by spice and mushroom on the nose. It shows all the text book Pinot Noir characters, the palate is equally impressive with ripe fruit characters and silky texture, followed by a lingering finish with fine tannins. This Pinot Gris comes from the original vineyard planted in 1984 and is made in the Alsace style with grapes that were picked late with a little botrytis influence. Fermented cool to retain varietal aromas and left sur lee for 5 month to gain extra palate texture this is a sophisticated Pinot Gris. It is typically quite rich with balanced acidity and a little residual sugar. The wine has inviting aromas of ripe stone fruits and a hint of floral characters.
