Bergaglio LA FORNACE Gavi di Tassarolo
Description: Located in Tassarolo Bergaglio's vineyard comprises five hectares of which only one is currently in production. Cortese, the native grape variety of Alessandria in Piedmont, tends to perform best in the hills between Novi and Tortona in Piedmont. The grape has been so successful in Gavi that it is known locally as Cortese di Gavi. The wine is really fresh and floral, clean with a pleasant aftertaste of toasted almond and hints of apple and sage. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot Rouge Bourgogne
Description: If you enjoy raunchy, old-fashioned Pinot Noir then Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot is an ideal partner. The vineyards contain a large proportion of old vines and are run ecologically with many steps taken to reduce yields and at harvest the fruit is picked fully ripe. Once in the winery the grapes are cooled and sulphured. Fermentation temperatures are set at 28 degrees to attain the required extraction with three pigeages per day. Confuron is a fanatic for pigeage, immersing himself up to the neck in the vat amidst the dangerously heady fumes. The net result of this is the high extraction of anthocyanins, so expect the wines to have lots of colour and great keeping potential. (12 x 75 cl)

Livio and Giorgio Marega Malvasia Istriana Collio DOC
Description: Started in 1905 by the estate's great-grandfather Ludvik Cresevec who bought 2ha in San Floriano the estate has passed down the generations and grown to its current size of 13.5ha . The vineyard plots are scattered throughout the locality: in Cero on the Slovenian border, Gradiscutta and Blanchis as well as San Floriano. The agriculture is organic with minimal treatments. The traditional Collio style is the focus of Livio and Giorgio Marega, with their challenge to get back to traditional methods in vinification, using the traditional barrels of two and five hectolitres, called "Holbar". These barrels were made of acacia, which give white wines great finesse and intense bouquet and elegant sweet tannins. Malvasia Istriana is made from vines up to 35-years-old located in Gradiscutta. 50% of the must is fermented in oak barrels called 'Holbar' and aged for at least eight months. The other 50% is stainless steel vinification. After extraction from the barrels, the two parts are assembled in a tank and remain there for almost one year. This wine has been made with great care from the vineyard to the winery to deliver an attractive straw yellow coloured wine with greenish tints, an extremely aromatic bouquet of vanilla, green pepper and sambuca.
