Covinca TORRELONGARES Macabeo Carinena DO Aragon
Description: Covinca was founded in 1987 after the merger of 2 cooperatives; that of the Almonacid de la Sierra and the Longares . Today, Covinca is managed by a young but experienced team representing over 700 members who together possess 3,000 hectares of vineyards and are the third largest bodega in Carinena. Carinena is one of the oldest Denominaciones de Origen in Spain and the oldest in Aragon. Viticulture began in the time of the Romans where indigenous grape varieties of Garnacha and Carinena were then taken to other parts of the Roman Empire . The Carinena Denominacion de Origen is situated 56 km south east of Zaragoza, Aragon, and is situated in the Iberica mountain range between the Campo de Carinena valley and the Ebro river. The Denominacion covers 50,000 hectares and has a long viticultural tradition and rich cultural heritage dating from the mudejar period. Generally the climate is arid in Carinena, with an annual rainfall of 350mm. The summers are dry and sunny, the winters are cold and the area often feels the effects of the 'el Cierzo' wind, which contributes to the dryness of the climate. Torrelongares blanco is made 100% from the grape variety Macabeo, it is from the vineyards at an altitude of 600m in the Sierras de Algairen and Serrallon in the D.O.Carinena. The average age of these vineyards is 20 years. With the latest equipment, modern methods, low yields, and a better understanding of the market, the wines of Covinca is developing rapidly, and have an exciting future. Torrelongares has a straw-yellow colour with green tones. A fresh bouquet with floral tones which reminds of aromatic herbs such as anis and fennel. It has a strictly fruity quality wine while on the palate the wine is smooth and velvety. (12 x 75 cl)

Francois & Jean Calot CUVEE TRADITION Morgon

Francois Calot is one such winemaker. While still charmingly supple, his wines have a rich, spicy fruit quality and concentration which give them an additional dimension (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine de la Vougeraie CLOS DU PRIEURE Blanc Vougeot
Description: Though Vougeot is best known for the highly reputed Clos de Vougeot, covering almost 126 acres, the Premier Cru and Village appellations in the remaining 41 acres should not be forgotten. This 100% Chardonnay is aged in barrels for 11 months and is a pale golden colour full of light, with green hints. A good nose it is quite closed, which opens after aeration to reveal mineral notes, almost chalky, complimented by floral and menthol fragrances. The attack is clean, the mouth voluptuous, yet elegant, with aromas of bitter almond, held together by good acidity which brings its crispness to the fore. With a length worthy of a 1er cru, it has a savory finish. (12 x 75 cl)
