Over the last ten years Ricardo has transformed the operation into what must be the most dynamic of all Madeira shippers and it is now 50% owned by the Japanese company Kinoshita Shoji. Frasqueira Bottlings are single vintage Madeiras from noble varieties which cannot be bottled before spending a minimum of 20 years in cask, and which may only be made by the canteiro method. This Boal boasts considerable weight and complexity, but carries with it a freshness while being weighty, not bone dry, focussed and long. This wine is only available in limited quantities. Quinta de Macedos PINGA DO TORTO Douro Portugal
Description: This ancient 6.5 Ha vineyard was bought by its present owners in 1998. The estate was in some disrepair and the Winery and House were duly renovated while the first wine was made at the property in 2000. At the estate traditional methods have been observed allowing these wines to mature at their own pace in new oak barriques. This wine is a blended form 3 varieties of Douro grape Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Franca Nacional. Quinta de Macedos have produced a deep red coloured wine full of character with only 40% racked into barrel for 5 months, it is rich and ripe with toasty hints of vanilla and liquorice. (6 x 75 cl)

Quinta do Vale Meao 2001 VINTAGE Port Douro Portugal
Description: Quinta Do Vale Meao is owned and run by the fifth and sixth generations of the Olazabal family. Today the estate consists of 62 hectares of vines growing traditional varietals including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cao for the range of Red wines and Port. This was the second year that Quinta Do Vale Meao produced vintage Port and it was greeted with as much enthusiasm as the 1999 vintage. In order to deliver the sophistication, complexity and style this port has been aged in new, first and second year barrels and this has produced a deep red/purple colour. The nose is showing plenty of spice and hints of dark forrest fruit. Joseph Drouhin Blanc Rully
Description: Rully is a delicious white Burgundy wine which resembles the whites from the Cote de Beaune. Showing a luminous, golden green colour and a toasty, fruity nose that gives way to a refined, elegant body with floral and cinnamon notes. The grapes are always picked by hand and then gently pressed. The juice ferments in barrels, a small percentage being of new oak. A few weeks after the malolactic fermentation is completed, the wine is racked off its lees. After several months of ageing in barrels , the wine is bottled. At the southern part of the Cote d'Or, a few miles South of Santenay, lie the vineyards of Rully. It is a lovely area, part of the Region of Mercurey. Both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are grown on the brown calcareous soil, the Chardonnay being found mostly on clay and limestone. As in the rest of Burgundy, the continental climate, with its warm Summer and mild fall, is very favourable to the good maturity of the grapes. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250 to 370 meters . (12 x 75 cl)
