Chateau Loudenne, situated on the banks of the Gironde estuary, is one of the most delightful sites in the Medoc, the charm of which did not escape the appreciative eye of its owners, Marie-Claude and Jean-Paul Lafragette. Chateau Loudenne stretches over a superb estate of 132 hectares, with 48 hectares of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and 12 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Since the Lafragette family bought Loudenne in March 2000, work on the vines has been conducted with the specific aim of enhancing the individual character of Loudenne's terroir and therefore its wines. Accordingly, right from the pruning season though to harvesting, every task is carried out with the utmost care to produce better wines, even down to the job of thinning out the harvest and the foliage by hand in September to help the ripening process. Once in the winery the grapes are vinified in stainless steel or lined concrete vats and ageing for 16 months in the cask takes place, of which 30% of the casks are renewed every year. Great care is again taken when choosing different coopers. Here they are adapted to each specific wine enabling Loudenne to obtain complex more telling aromas. Commitment to quality is a constant at this winery and since 2000 malactic fermentation is carried out in all the new casks, here the aromas imparted by the vats are better accepted by the wine as well as this the age-old technique makes the tannins silky and the wines rounder. This wine is a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc as well as a little 1%Malbec and is a very intense red colour. Its bouquet reveals blackberry, black-currant and cherry, while spicey hints and a latent woodiness add to the complexity. Its attack is lively and in the mouth, there is a roundness giving the wine a certain fullness. Its structure is compact and the tannin's purity contributes to the high quality of this finish which is the sign of a great Medoc wine. (12 x 75 cl)

Louis Latour Cote de Nuits Villages AC
Description: The Appellation of Côte de Nuits Villages encompasses the villages of Premeaux, Prissey, Comblanchien and Corgoloin just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges which have yet to achieve their own AC status. The vineyards of these four villages benefit from east-facing hill-slopes which act as a sun-trap to create maximum ripeness in the grapes. The complex soil composition of these villages include varying proportions of marl and shaley clays which produce wines of great character and charm. Maison Louis Latour's Côte de Nuits Villages is an excellent introduction to the wines of the Côte. Traditional open vat fermentation method is followed by 18 months in oak barrel producing a the wine that has a nose of red and black cherry fruits, with notes of liquorice and leather. In the mouth it is soft and rich with finely balanced tannins and good length. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Canon 1er Grand Cru Classe B Saint Emilion
Description: In 1760, Jacques Kanon, bought Saint Martin vineyard on top of one of the finest slopes in Saint Emilion. The improvements made on the estate quickly resulted in the wine's success, and its new name of Canon. The estate was acquired by Raymond Fontemoing, a major Libourne wine shipper, in 1770. In 1919 the estate was bought by Monsieur and Madame Fournier, who invested a great deal of knowledge and effort into the property. Their grandchildren inherited their passion for wine. In 1996 the estate was purchased by the Wertheimer family, who also own the firm of Chanel. Canon's vineyard is located on a former limestone quarry and as a result the sub soil is full of underground galleries. The topsoil is mainly clay-limestone. Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes are grown in the traditional way and the wine is fermented in oak vats. 18-20 months in barrel, . (12 x 75 cl)

Description: The Rothbury Estate Brokenback range constitutes the pinnacle of winemaking at one of the Hunter Valley’s most famous wineries. The fruit for each of the wines is sourced from vineyards at the foot of the famous Brokenback ranges to the west of Pokolbin, in New South Wales. The Brokenback Shiraz is a classic example of one of Australia’s great red wine styles – Lower Hunter Shiraz. The Brokenback Shiraz presents as a medium red/purple colour in the glass. The nose offers lifted berry fruit with balanced American oak and a hint of classic Hunter Valley earthiness. On the palate the rich, ripe varietal Shiraz flavours of sweet berry, chocolate and spicy oak, tight grained tannins combine to deliver a soft and velvety mouthfeel with good length. Cellaring: 3 to 6 years Viticulture: The fruit for the Brokenback Shiraz comes from the loamy volcanic soils at the foot of the Brokenback ranges in the Lower Hunter Valley. Vinification: After de-stemming and crushing, the must was transferred to stainless steel tanks where it began fermentation. Traditional cap management techniques were employed such as plunging and pumping over. The wine was pressed and transferred into oak barrels where it completed fermentation.
