Description: In 1978, Brian Stonier and his wife Noel established the Stonier vineyard in the coastal town of Merricks, one hour South-East of Melbourne and ten minutes from the challenging surf beaches of Bass Straight. Over 25 years later, the name Stonier is widely recognised as a producer of exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. At the heart of Stonier lies a meticulous approach to viticulture and winemaking, while tyhere is a real desire to reflect the imprint of each vineyard, through subtle variations in flavour and texture, interweaving these differences to form elegant wines of seamless complexity. Pinot Noir from the oldest vineyards was selected for this wine and fermented in small open fermenters with about 25% receiving extended skin maceration, and around 5% being whole bunch fermented. Post ferment the wine was pressed to French oak for malolactic fermentation and ageing with minimal winemaking interference occured before bottling. The Reserve shows an intensity and purity of fruit reflecting the great growing season, and has structure to reward medium term cellaring. A deep, bright red coloured wine the aromas of plums, redcurrants and maraschino cherries are evident while some floral and violet complexity complements the subtle French oak bouquet. Rich red fruit flavours dominate the palate and a typically generous and silky mid-palate is balanced by good acidity, while the fine grain tannins give great length and structure. (6 x 75 cl)

Description: The estate of Max Ferd. Richter has been in the ownership of the family for more than 300 years. Today this enterprise is one of the leading producers of top Riesling wines in the heart of the central Mosel area with total holdings of 40 acres and an annual production of about 10,500 cases. Today Weingut Max Ferdinand Richter supplies a large variety of single vineyard wines where the terroir defines the wines. The steep vineyard sites are generally fresh weathering grey slate with different compositions of ferruginous , mineral quartz or clay parts and in part make the character and flavour of the wines. In order to reduce quantity and increase concentration, pruning is severe and in prolific years a vendange verte is carried out in August. The vintage is picked much later than that of most growers and is done entirely by hand. Domaine Jean Pillot MORGEOT 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachet
Description: Jean-Marc Pillot has recently taken over from his father, Jean, at the family owned domaine. While able to draw on the experience and advice of his father he has made changes to the estate, including a new cave, that have propelled the domaine up the league of premiere producers of wine in Burgundy. Equally capable of producing great white or red wine the style is always intensely fruity, graceful, and precise. With white wines dominating the 10 hectare domaine the vineyard holdings are spread throughout the village of Chassagne with subsidiary parcels in Puligny, Santenay, and Remigny . The vines in most parcels are between 25 and 50 years old. Traditional viticultural practices are used in the vineyards where, Cordon de Royat and Guyot Simple pruning and training systems are employed. The whites are fermented 12 to 18 months in barrel, never using no more than 25% new wood so as not to overwhelm the intensity of fruit and sense of terroir specific to each wine. Bâtonnage is practiced to enrich the whites but is not exaggerated while the wines are manipulated as little as possible and are bottled unfiltered to preserve their purity. This 1er Cru wine comes from a vineyard below Ruchottes with a great clay and chalk terrior that is reflected in this lovely Chardonnay. The 2000 vintage is full of fat flavours wth an almost tannic grip. The lively finish gives expression to the butter, nut, and citrus flavours. (6 x 75 cl)
