Giacomo Ascheri BRICCO e COSTE Barolo Piemonte
Description: The Giacomo Ascheri Cellars originated in La Morra: in that area, where a place called “Ascheri” still exists, in the early 19th century the first vines were planted and the first wines produced. In 1880 the winery was moved from La Morra to Bra, where it is still situated today. In a world where wines are generally produced with the same grapes, the same technology, the same wood for ageing and above all the same consultants, Ascheri's aim is to obtain a wine which is the expression of the vineyard it comes from, the grapes it was made of, and above all Giacomo Ascheri own ideas. In order to achieve this, Giacomo Ascheri have chosen a natural approach, with a moderate use of technology, without changing the nature of the wine with special procedures. They have attached new importance to old oak barrel ageing making choices entirely by ourselves. Produced in the Sorano vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba with South/South West facing slopes and an altitude which ranges from 280 to 350 m above sea level. The vineyards in the Sorano Estate are planted with Nebbiolo and Dolcetto vines, that produce wines of outstanding richness. This 100% Nebbiolo is hand harvested in mid October and aged 6 months in stainless Steel tanks followed by 28 months in Slavonian oak 60% old, 40% new and a further 10 months in the bottle. Bright garnet red colour this Ascheri has a complex bouquet with a small fruits scent, elegant and with a hint of mint. Full palate, powerful and balanced wine it is harmonious and exceptionally long-lived, a remarkably classy wine, extraordinarily rich and complex that is reflected in the finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Goriska Brda QUERCUS Pinot Grigio Slovenia
Description: The Goriska Brda wine cellar was built in 1957 and is a great viticultural region. The Slovenian word 'brda' means 'hills' and this is the simplest description of Goriska Brda: a region of low rounded hills in the western part of Slovenia, with a Mediterranean climate. The soils of Goriska Brda are marl and sandstone and the hills are very prone to erosion, so most of the vineyards must be terraced. Near the coast the vineyards open out towards the Mediterranean and take advantage of 2,900 sunny hours a year. A sweet and characteristic bouquet reminiscent of tropical aromas of pineapple, grapefruit as well as butter and cinnamon. The aromas follow through onto the palate of this wine, it is also showing some sweetness giving a silky feel to the taste, while it is rich and harmonious, with good acid balance and a long finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine de la Belliviere HOMMAGE A LOUIS DERRE Rouge Coteaux du Loir
Description: Hommage à Louis Derré is a wine created in 2000 and produced from vines of over 80 to 100 years. This wine combines the usual work of extraction with the concentration and the complexity due to the age of the vines. Using only Pineau d'Aunis fruit it is aged in the winery over the period of 1 year in 3-5 year old barrels while the final balance is the work of nature. This wine displays ripe fresh black cherry along with smoky, meaty and wet stone aromas. Deeply rich cherry fruit mingles with concentrated bitter chocolate and black tea on the palate, revealing mysteriously meat and mineral dimensions, along with the structure and concentration.
