Terre da Vino LA LUNA e I FALO Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOC Piemonte
Description: Established in 1980, Terre da Vino is an association of vineyard owners from DOC and DOCG estates in Piedmont. With 2,500 wine growers it cultivates more than 4,000 hectares organised into 14 Wine Cooperatives, located in the classic area of production. With a new modern winery and a focus on quality production from the vineyard to the bottle this is an exciting time for Terre da Vino. The grapes come from the classic Barbera area in the comuni of Nizza Monferrato, Agliano Terme, and Clamandrana, all in the province of Asti. This wine is blended from vineyards with slightly different soils and microclimates so that the final wine will offer a better balance between structural solidity and bouquet complexity. The vineyards utilised a total of 60 hectares , and are part of the company's 'Superbarbera' project where the Terre da Vino viticulturists rigerously select vineyard that have low yields and a commitment to quality. Vinification is traditional, with a 15-20 day maceration on the skins and a 28-30oC fermentation, followed quickly by the onset of malolactic. The wine then matures for about 12 months in small oak, about 1/3 new; here, the wine, already impressively structured, acquires a multi-layered depth of flavour and character, evolving into a richly-nuanced Barbera of grace and expressiveness. This wine is a ruby-edge purple with a rich and deep bouquet showing a complex balance of violet, liquorice, and vanilla notes. The palate is crisp and dry, with a subtly-veined background of vanilla and wild berries, which carry through to its lingering finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Emilio Bulfon PICULIT NERI Venezia Giulia IGT
Description: A shiny ruby red coloured wine with burgundy red tints. It has herbaceous, tannic, strong aromas while vanilla and "fumè" hints are also evident. Lightly tannic and fruity, this red has a dry, warm character that is quite fresh, tasty and smooth. Piculit Neri is planted only in the area around Castelnovo del Friuli and Pinzano al Tagliameto, in the west of the province of Pordenone while the name, which means "tiny", probably derives from small size of the berries. Wirra Wirra Grenache McLaren Vale South Australia
Description: The wine is rich in colour with vibrant deep ruby hues. Extremely lifted aromatic nose and cherry and plum primary fruit notes, with a background of green peppercorns and aniseed and floral notes of violets towards the end. Subtle and well-integrated oak, balancing generous fruit at the front of the palate and a warm rich mouthfeel. The tannins are ripe and succulent with an elegant, persistant back palate. Generous rich, ripe flavours mean that this wine is approachable in youth with an ability to evolve in the cellar over the next 5-7 years and beyond with proper cellaring conditions. Serve at room temperature with most foods, especially pasta, duck and full flavoured cheeses such as Parmigiano reggiano.
