Dominique Roger DOMAINE DU CARROU Sancerre Blanc
Description: Domaine du Carrou is the personal estate of Dominique Roger. He represents the younger generation of vignerons keen to combine tradition with modern techniques. The vineyards have a very shallow top soil under which one finds a hard chalky soil, which imparts that subtle floral scent to his wines. Sourced exclusively from vineyard sites around the town of Sancerre in the upper Loire valley, the grapes are lightly pressed and chilled immediately upon reception at the winery. Fermentation is in steel tanks and temperature controlled in order to preserve the varietal flavours of the Sauvignon Blanc grapes. No oak, filtered and fined before bottling. Wonderfully perfumed, refined aromas of gooseberries and grass, enlivened on the palate by fresh but well balanced acidity, elements of minerals and an echo of gooseberry fruit lasting well into the racy finish. (6 x 75 cl)

La Prendina Pinot Bianco Garda DOC
Description: The Azienda Agricola La Prendina was acquired in 1958 and at first the wines were sold under the Cavalchina brand. The first wine to use the name of La Prendina was a Merlot bottled in 1980 for Gualtiero Marchesi, but it was only in 1990 that the wines were sold under the name La Prendina. An excellent varietal, but often rather temperamental to cultivate, it produces a wine that is medium bodied and with a fresh, clean flavour. The grapes are picked during the early part of September, pressed and the must is fermented at 18 0 C for about two weeks. Next the wine is taken off the lees and there is no malolactic fermentation. Finally, it is bottled in December to retain its freshness and released from the beginning of January. In the vineyard La Prendina aims to grow full flavoured concentrated grapes while the task in the cellar is to express the nature of the grape and terroir. This has produced an absolutely delicious blend of citrus fruit and balancing acidity that shows just how good the Pinot Bianco variety can be. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy LES FOLATIERES 1er Cru Puligny Montrachet

Domaine de la Janasse Viognier Vin de Pays de la Pincipaute d'Orange
Description: A domaine is not the sum of their interests. It is the sum of their gifts. St. Exupery’s beautiful words could have been written for the Sabons, proprietors of Domaine de la Janasse. Aimé Sabon first established his cellar in 1973 and now owns a total of 50ha including 13ha in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The best sites are planted on a mix of galet stones, sands and clay and provide exceptional fruit. Since taking over the winemaking from his father in 1991, Christophe Sabon has set this 45 hectare property on the road to becoming the Beaucastel of the future. Tiny yields from the old vines give great intensity of fruit, while the flavours are preserved by temperature control, and expertly sculpted by judicious us of barrique. Christophe’s talent is to express the brightness and intensity of the grape, and capture all the nuances of terroir. Harvest is by hand and the grapes are transported in small wooden crates in order to reduce bruising. After de-stemming they are gently crushed in a pneumatic press and fermented at a cool, controlled temperature in stainless steel. Ageing is in barrels for 6 months, 25% of which are new, and batonnage is performed regularly. Only 5000 bottles made annually. The nose is fresh, fruity and aromatic, with ripe tropical and dried fruit characteristics. The palate is medium bodied with a succulent texture, balanced alcohol and acidity and a great concentration of dried fruit flavours, such as apricot and peach, with a honeyed, silky finish. (6 x 75 cl)
