Morgan Monterey County Sauvignon Blanc California
Description: The colour is light green/straw. The nose shows lots of complexity, with bright notes of grapefruit and mint, along with rich tones of melon and fig. The palate is focused, with elements of kiwi, lime, and subtle peach notes. As always, the finish is crisp and clean. The wines made by Dean de Korth and Dan Lee at Morgan, are in the top drawer from Monterey. Morgan have acces to some of the finest fruit in the Peninsula and in 1997 purchased 65 acres in the Santa Lucia Highlands, which will come to fruition this harvest. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Vasse Felix was the first commercial vineyard and winery to be established in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. The vineyard took its unusual name from an early event in the district. Vasse was a French seaman who drowned last century when his longboat overturned near the site of Busselton while exploring the coastline on the ship 'Geographe' under Captain Freycinet. Paradoxically, Felix is the Latin word for fortunate or luck. Thus the name refers to a favoured place in Australia discovered by the French. This wine displays vibrant varietal shiraz characteristics, offering ripe plum and cherry liqueur flavours, combined with chocolate and mocha aromas. Classic regional savoury and white pepper characters provide complexity and lift the fruit intensity. Vanillin and sweet smokey oak aromas provide further depth and complexity to the attractive fruit profile. The wine delivers upfront fruit sweetness with soft cherry fruit. The palate fruit profile is exactly as the wine smells and provides good fruit depth and ripeness. Full bodied, supple, soft, well structured and balanced by the firm yet velvety tannin profile, the oak tannins provide subtle, grainy textures on the finish and overall added length and complexity.

Description: Shaw and Smith’s Sauvignon Blanc remains their flagship wine and the benchmark for Australian Sauvignon Blanc. This Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc from Shaw and Smith is made from 100% Adelaide Hills fruit, principally from their own Balhanna and Woodside vineyards. The result however, is an excellent wine. It is light, bright lemony yellow, with greenish lights, and has pure varietal perfumes giving way to a clean, fresh palate with the lively acidity considered a benchmark for Australian Sauvignon Blanc.
