Description: An old Chassagne family, with at least five generations of grape-growing behind them, and any number of cousins in the village. Description: In 1826, the proprietor of Chateau Langoa, Hugh Barton, purchased a part of the Leoville estate. His part from there on became known as Leoville Barton. Six generations of Bartons have since followed and have continued to preserve the quality of the wine. In 1983 Anthony Barton, the present owner, was given the property by his uncle, Ronald Barton. Anthony Barton's daughter, Lilian Barton Sartorius, now helps her father in managing the estate. They maintain the traditional winemaking methods producing the familiar excellence and distinction of Saint-Julien. 20 months in barrel, including 50% new. Description: The Humbrecht family have been making wines, exclusively from their own vineyards since 1658, when the founding father of the Humbrecht dynasty, Sonntag Humbrecht, began making wine in the Alsace region. The Domaine Zind Humbrecht itself began in 1959 with the marriage of Leonard Humbrecht to Genevieve Zind and the subsequent merging of their vineyards.The Humbrechts are a family of vintners with a passion for wine growing and the great wines of Alsace and today the Domaine now owns over 28 hectares of vineyards in the Haut-Rhin Department. The success of Zind-Humbrecht wines lies in the attention they pay to the vineyards and this Gewurztraminer is from the younger vineyards in the Herrenweg with an average age is 25 years old. The grapes were perfectly ripe and were harvested early thanks to the precocity of this vineyard to produce a very powerful wine showing a totally dry style even though there is technically some sweetness. Fetzer DUAL VARIETAL Zinfandel Shiraz California
Description: This wine is a blend of 62% Zinfandel and 38% Syrah. Here, the Zinfandel grapes used in this wine come from several key coastal Zinfandel regions, including San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, and Mendocino counties. The Shiraz grapes come from key vineyards in California's Central Valley. This area has rich deep soils and lots of warm sunshine that is balanced by the cooling of the delta breeze that runs off the Sacramento River Delta into the San Francisco Bay. This dark and rich wine was fermented with 50% whole berries. The grapes received a three-day cold soaking period at about 50ºF with yeast was added on the fourth day and the fermentation warmed by natural fermentation heat. The wine was pressed at dryness and malolactic fermentation occurred in the tanks. The wines were aged on lees for 3 months before racking. This process took place in a stainless steel tank to preserve bright fruit aromas and flavours. The Zinfandel grapes add bright raspberry, and cranberry aromas accompanied by the ripe jam and spice. The Shiraz adds rich, leathery flavours, blueberry and the dark runby hues. (12 x 75 cl)
