The grapes for our Ernest & Julio Gallo Coastal Vineyards 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon were harvested from the North Coast appellation. The North Coast includes four growing regions: Mendocino, Lake, Sonoma and Napa Counties. Beginning 100 km north of San Francisco, this region is characterized by the fog that drifts in from the San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. This cool coastal fog tempers the warm daytime environment, therefore creating the perfect climate for growing well-balanced grapes. The areas are contain benchland soils with well-drained thinner top-soils, conducive to producing less but higher quality fruit per vine. (6 x 75 cl)
