Nino Negri SASSELLA La Tense Valtellina Superiore Lombardia
Description: Sassella is the second, in size, of the four sub-zones of the DOCG Valtellina Superiore: about 150 hectares, from Castione Andevenno to the gates of Sondrio. The name comes from the chapel of Sassella at the base of the headland of the same name. A blend of 90% Chiavennasca ; 10% Pignola Valtellina and Pinot Nero from selected vineyards in the sub-zone of Sassella at 350-500 metres altitude. The ripe grapes, harvested between the middle of October and early November, are vinified by the traditional red wine method, with ten days maceration of the skins in the must; the fermentation takes place at 28-30°C. The new wine stays in stainless steel tanks until March; then matures for 12 months in Slavonian oak vats and it rests in bottle for at least three months. Ruby red colour with garnet hues and an intense, elegant bouquet with hints of raspberry preserve, resin and tar with suggestions of dried flowers and of cloves. A dry, firm, balanced flavour with a distinctive, lingering aftertaste of prunes and toasted almonds make this a wine to savour.

Warwick Estate Cabernet Franc Simonsberg Stellenbosch RSA
Description: The grapes were picked at 25,2 balling and innoculated with a local yeast as soon as they entered the cellar. Fermentation peaked at 28°C and the wine fermented dry on the skins. After pressing, the wine was transferred to second and third fill French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation. After malolactic fermentation the wine was racked and further aged in barrels for 18 months. Before bottling the wine was lightly fined and filtered. Winemaker's comments:The wine has a deep and intense garnet colour. The nose is dominated by a milky creaminess that is complexed by aromas of almonds, chocolate and pencil shavings. The palate is full round with ripe chewy tannins and flavours like coffee, cherry, cigar box and liquorice. Its balanced acid creates a firm finish that is complemented by luscious and lingering sweetness. Serving temperature: 16-18°C Food recommendation: Serve with rare roast lamb, lamb knuckles stewed with red onions, or a rich pork terrine

Domaine Henri Gouges LES PRULIERS 1er Cru Nuits-Saint-Georges
Description: The Henri Gouges domain was established in Nuits Saint Georges at the very beginning of this century. Founded by Henri Gouges, it was subsequently developed by his two sons, Michel and Marcel. In the last 15 years Pierre and Christian, the grandsons, have carried on the traditions of the estate by continuing the quest for excellence in everything they do both in the vineyards and in the cellars, they produce wines considered to be the benchmark for Nuits. The wines are produced on 14.5 hectares of vineyards and includes holdings in 6 Nuits St. Georges 1er Crus. Uncompromising about quality and respectful of the typicity of the different vintages, the harvest is entirely destemmed and vinification takes place in lined cement vats for approximately fifteen days, depending on the vintage. After cuvaison, the wine is transferred to small oak barrels and after 18 months ageing in oak barrels, using a maximum of 20 % new oak in the final blending, the wines are fined with egg whites and given a light filtration before bottling. The 1.8 hectares of this parcel have the benefit of an ideal location and exposure to the sun in the heart of the Nuiton vineyard. Both youthful , and mature , these vineyards give body to wines. A great reflection of the terrior this Pinot Noir has aromas of dark forrest fruits, supple tannins and an enjoyable long finish. Limited Availability. (12 x 75 cl)
