Devaux D de DEVAUX Brut VINTAGE Champagne
Description: Founded in 1846 by the brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, the Champagne House of Devaux was taken over by Madame Augusta Devaux, one of Champagne's great characters who ran the company with much energy and skill. The positive impact that she made on the company lead it to be renamed Maison Veuve Devaux when she died. Today the House of Veuve A. Devaux is located in the magnificent setting of Domaine de Villeneuve and is part of co-operative that has some 800 growers contributing to the blends, making it the largest Champagne house in the region. 100% Chardonnay this champagne underwent primary alcoholic fermentation ace in stainless steel maturation tanks. Following the second fermentation in bottle the wine was matured on its lees for at least five years before release. This 1998 vintage wine is very well-balanced and has the potential for further ageing thanks to its vivacity and elegance. The exceptional characteristics of the terroir are combined with Devaux's know-how in order to create one of the best cuvees of the Devaux range. A pale yellow coloured Champagne with fine mouse, the nose shows floral notes and some biscuity characters. On the palate the wine is lively and elegant with notes of hazelnut culminating in an enjoyable finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine de la Madone CUVEE TRADITION Fleurie
Description: 9 hectares, all on La Madone supply the fruit for this immaculate small winery. Jean-Marc Despres, brother-in-law of Jean Louis Dutraive, makes a lovely, silky wine with plenty of character. This red wine constitutes the majority of what Domaine de la Madone produce. Vinified using the whole grape, and fermented over a period of 7-8 days, it encapsulates all the qualities one would expect from a Fleurie wine. It tastes smooth, and lusciously fruity, with subtle but nevertheless tangible tannins. It can be drunk young, but also improves with age. (12 x 75 cl)
