As a native of Piacenza, Valentino Migliorini was unconstrained by Langhe traditions when creating his state of the art cellar in Monforte. The estate is now one of the largest in Barolo, with 40 hectares owned and another 20 rented on a long-term basis, all in the commune of Monforte. Valentino’s pioneering spirit lead to his most famous creation: Bricco Manzoni, the barrique-aged blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera that have inspired many imitations. Domaine Jean-Luc Joillot Pinot Noir Bourgogne
Description: Smokey bramble spice with the structure to be expected from this grower based in Pommard. Good depth of fruit and some evident tannin. Jean-Luc father died when he was very young and as a result the estate was held in trust for him until he was 21 years old. That was many years ago and today he uses traditional Burgundian methods, enthusiastically overseeing every aspect of the winemaking process. Recently he was named president of the Winemakers’ Association in Pommard.

Description: This is a rare wine, accounting for just 7% of the appellation's total output. From vines planted in sandy soil, and preferably blond sand. Produced with white grapes only: 30% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc, 25% Bourboulenc, 22% Roussanne and 3% Picpoul and Picardan. Crop picked and sorted by hand. Grapes destemmed, then pressed pneumatically . Temperature-controlled fermentation at 18-20ºC to obtain the fruit without technological aromas. Kept on fine lees for several months before bottling. No malolactic fermentation. Partly matured in vats and barrels. Blended and bottled early to trap all the wine's fruit and vivacious character. (12 x 75 cl)
