La Spinetta LIDIA Chardonnay Piemonte DOC
Description: The Rivetti family story begins in the 1890s, when Giovanni Rivetti, grandfather of the three Rivetti brothers, Carlo, Bruno and Giorgio, left Piedmont for Argentina. Like many Italians of that time, he dreamed of returning rich and a powerful man, perhaps even one day able to make a great wine in his homeland. He never did, though his son, Giuseppe did. Pin married Lidia, bought vineyards and began to make wine. In 1977 the family took up residence at La Spinetta in Castagnole Lanze and still run the estate today. Named in honor of Lidia Rivetti, mother of the three Rivetti brothers this is 100% Chardonnay from a 2 hectare vineyard. After spending 12 months in new French oak this has produced a yellow straw coloured wine with slightly green reflections. Elegant, yet complex with scents reminding one of vegetables and vanilla; once on the palate there is a ripe entry, then distinctly firm edged, with a dry, nutty edge and sound acidity. (12 x 75 cl)

Ferraton Pere et Fils LES MANDOULS Condrieu
Description: The son of a wine producer and a wine producer himself, Jean Ferraton founded his own vineyard in 1946 in the Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage appellations together with his father-in-law, Jean Reverdy. He passed on his passion to his son, Michel who developed the estate by extending the vineyards and adding the current premises in Tain L'Hermitage. In 1994 his son, Samuel Ferraton took over and has continued the family's art of wine-making, preserving the knowledge and learning that have been handed down to him. A complex hand harvested Viognier no malolactic fermentation is allowed to give the wine maximum aromatic freshness. Finally, it is aged in stainless steel vats to achieve the purest fruit possible. A pale gold colour with silver hints this white wine has a very intense nose showing notes of exotic fruit including pineapple and lychee. Very fresh, the nose develops on the palate as white peach and exotic fruits flavours come to the fore of this well made, enjoyable viognier. (6 x 75 cl)
