The aim of this Cantine is to enhance the wine and culture of the Berici Hills, innovate the quality and image of the wines and promote increased control over the entire vine-growing and wine-producing chain. This has resulted in a rose coloured wine with copper reflections and a refined, intense bouquet with extremely pleasing hints of fruit. Domaine Georges Vernay CHAILLES d'ENFER Condrieu
Description: Georges Vernay created the family business with 1.5 hectares of AOC Condrieu 'Coteau du Vernon' vineyards. Towards the end of the 1940's, Georges became one of the most ardent defenders and saviours of the Appellation, then about to disappear. Today, the vinification is assured by his children Luc and Christine Vernay and they now own 16 hectares undervine throughout the region. However, 7 hectares are in the appellation Condrieu, of which 3 hectares are old vines. This vineyard produce two prestigious vintages, called the 'Coteau de Vernon' and 'Les Chaillées de l'Enfer'. Both vintages represent the quintessence of Condrieu's Viognier vine. These exquisite incomparable white wines with their golden colour are of great nobleness, full-bodied, unctuous and persistent. This wine comes from 40 year-old vines grown on steep granite slopes that can only be worked manually. Maturation in cask on fine lees gives a full-flavoured wine, while retaining the fresh fruit characteristic of top Viognier. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Bright ruby/scarlet coloured wine with just the lightest hint of orange. The aromas are an exotic mix of ripe dark fruits and leather with hints of dried porcini mushrooms. Smoky ripe plums show in the nose and on the palate that are followed by layers of dusty burnt cherries and bitter oranges which are still held in check by firm, hard tannins that are somehow surprisingly round in their intensity. The finish is restrained by its intense tannins, but the powerful complex fruit flavors are already starting to show through, a wine for long-term cellaring. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley Volnay
Description: This wine comes from a 3.5 hectare parcel and it is mixture of fruit from old vines and a new section planted by Bouley 15 years ago. This well made Pinot Noir is a fragrant, broad textured, fruity wine with scents and flavours of violets and plums. Jean-Marc Bouley’s domaine, which has been in his family for three generations, now consists of 12 hectares in Volnay, Pommard and Beaune. The winery is located underneath his house on a steep narrow street in the village of Volnay. The house was originally built by a retired railroad engineer, and the cellars resemble train tunnels. Jean-Marc took over the domaine in 1985 and significantly expanded the holdings, buying choice parcels in Volnay and Pommard. He immediately attained international acclaim for his exciting, dramatic Pinot Noirs. Today, he makes wines from 11 different appellations. Bouley aims for maximum extraction of colour, flavour and aromas to yield wines that are lushly fruity, yet balanced and complex. (12 x 75 cl)
