Carpineto DOGAJOLO IGT Toscana Rosso
Description: Founded in 1967, Carpineto is a partnership between acclaimed winemakers Giovanni C. Sacchet and Antonio M. Zaccheo. Their original mission was to produce a world-class red wine from the Chianti Classico appellation. This was a radical departure from the marketplace of the times when most Chianti was still produced in the traditional winemaking style. Carpineto's visionary founders knew the untapped potential of the Tuscan landscape to produce truly great wines. By applying modern viticulture and winemaking techniques, they dramatically exceeded the quality standards of the day. Under their direction, Carpineto developed an award winning, international reputation for wines of matchless intensity and extract, as well as consistency vintage after vintage. Dogajolo is a young 'Super-Tuscan' made from traditional and international varieties, Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an innovative wine, a young 'Super-Tuscan', whose characteristics are never found together in the same wine. Dogajolo combines the power and deep colors of a young wine, the elegance and balance given by wood ageing, as well as a fruity and fragrant bouquet. The two grape varieties are vinified separately, since they ripen at different times. Toward the end of fermentation they are blended and placed in small wooden casks where they slowly complete alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. This Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend shows youthful vigour, smoothness and a fruity, fragrant bouquet. The palate is full and soft with notes of cherries, vanilla and spice complemented by the great finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Kingston Estate SARANTOS Soft Press Shiraz South Eastern Australia
Description: Kingston Estate Wines has grown rapidly since Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis first developed their 40 acre vineyard in 1979 in South Australia's Riverland wine region. Today, Kingston is the 10th largest wine producer in Australia and remains one of Australia's largest family-owned wineries. Sarantos, named after one of Kingston Estate owners is an easy drinking range of wines. Using only the best quality fruit and adopting the practice of soft pressing so that only free run juice is used in the winemaking process. This has resulted in a range of wines showing full fruit characters. This is a rich and warming wine style with infinite drinkability. Grapes were selected from vineyards throughout South Australia including the Clare Valley, Adelaide Plains and the Riverland. Parcels of fruit which showed generous fruit concentration were identified and treated in the Soft Press winemaking style. After crushing the grape skins were handled gently to maximize the variety's pure and clean flavours during the ensuing fermentation process. Only a small portion of the wine was matured with American and French oak with the intention being to allow maximum fruit expression and the oak adding subtle complexity. The Sarantos Shiraz is a deep plum red colour while on the nose it has rich licorice, chocolate, plums, dark berry fruits and subtle spiciness and is very much like a warm Christmas fruit pudding. These attractive flavours continue onto the palate and are fused with soft charry characters and maraschino cherries. For all its depth of flavour and intensity it has surprisingly soft tannins and acid, typical of the 'Soft Press' style. (12 x 75 cl)
