After 9 months in oak this wine has an enticing nose, mineral and herbaceous palate, while subtle nuances of oak are evident. Complex, rounded with a long finish, this is a well made wine. This wine is 100% maccabeo comes from 80 year old vines planted in ''schiste''. From the famous Maury area in the far South Eastern corner of the Roussillion, that produces a low yield of exceptional quality grapes that truly reflect this magnificent ''terroir''. Hand picked in small ''cagettes'' to avoid any damage, the bunches are then transported to the winery in a refrigerated lorry where they are hand sorted before pressing. This white is sealed with a screw cap to ensure all the delicate aromas are maintained and to avoid any risk of cork contamination. (12 x 75 cl)

Boutinot Wines FALSE BAY Chardonnay Coastal Region RSA
Description: A poised and restrained style of Chardonnay, with citrus fruits, ripe apples and a touch of tropical fruit on the long finish. False Bay Producer Information & Tasting Notes Owned by Boutinot UK, False Bay Winery is a company that has grown out of 10 years involvement in South Africa, which began at a time when their wines and potential was just being recognised. With knowledge and respect within the South African wine industry, Paul Boutinot has been able to source top quality grapes for the re-launch of False Bay. We furthermore have the advantage of having a permanent team in South Africa headed by CEO Jean du Toit, who also oversees our winemaking operations. First discovered by sailors confusing it for Table Bay to the north, False Bay has long been a haven for those navigating the treacherous Cape of Good Hope. The cool coastal breeze which sweeps off the Indian Ocean temper the ripening process, extend the growing season and produce expressive wines with more precise varietal characters and purity. These lifted aromas make the wines accessible, perfectly balanced and full flavoured. (12 x 75 cl)

Kautz IRONSTONE VINEYARDS SYMPHONY OBSESSION California
Description: Ironstone’s Obsession has youthful aromas that are markedly floral. Extremely drinkable, this lusciously brilliant and fanciful wine is full of fruit flavours, and finishes crisp and clean. The story of Ironstone Vineyards started in the hands of John Kautz, a young row crop farmer from Lodi who saw the future in growing wine grapes in Lodi. With 12 acres in 1948, John quickly built an excellent reputation as a premium wine grape supplier, amassing over 5,000 acres of grapes in Lodi and the Sierra Foothills and eventually becoming one of the top ten wine grape growers in California. In 1988, John, his wife Gail and their children dedicated themselves to the creation of a wine of their own. While still maintaining grape sales to top wineries around the world, they brought award-winning winemaker Steve Millier aboard to launch Kautz wines, which would evolve into Ironstone Vineyards, a wine brand dedicated to the production of exceptional wines of unparalleled quality, outstanding value and everyday approachability. The Symphony grape used in this wine was developed in 1948 at the University of California, Davis by Dr. James Olmo from crossing the Muscat of Alexandria with Grenache Gris. This has produced a delicate Muscat flavour and aroma that characterise the wine, while it shows unusual resistance to oxidation and maintain their light colour, flavour and bouquet. The Ironstone Vineyards Obsession was produced from Symphony grapes sourced from the family’s Murphys and Lodi vineyards. In late September, fully ripened Ironstone Symphony grapes were picked at 22.5% brix, precisely when Symphony grape character is fully developed giving perfect balance to the finished wine, then delivered to the winery for further processing early that day. In order to facilitate pressing and to obtain good juice extraction, the grapes were then crushed using a Diemme tank press. Symphony yields a very high quality juice that is low in phenolics and solids. The juice was cold settled for 48 hours at 40° F, then racked and inoculated with a pure strain of yeast culture that begins fermentation, which lasts three to four weeks. The residual sugar level is retained in the wine by arresting the fermentation rate through chilling. After several rackings, the wine was warmed and stabilised prior to bottling. Jackson Wine Estates LA CREMA Pinot Noir Russian River Valley California
Description: Part of Jackson Wine Estates, La Crema winery was founded in 1979 and quickly established itself as a pioneer for intensely flavoured Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Russian River Valley is home to La Crema and the moderating conditions are ideal for cultivating Pinot Noir with naturally bright acidity and concentrated black cherry fruit flavours. Hand-picked Pinot Noir grapes from cool climate vineyards are delivered to the winery in small half ton bins to protect the integrity of the fruit. Once in the winery the belt delivery system with sorting table purges damaged fruit so that 70% retention of whole berries before fermenting takes place for greater fruit expression. Next a four day, cold soak before fermentation is undertaken enhances soft tannins, next open top fermentation with punch-downs four times daily occurs to extract colour. Aged takes palce for nine months in 100% French oak barrels that refines the finish and the wine is then bottled unfiltered and unfined to express the pure character of Pinot Noir. Winemaker Melissa Stackhouse had the following comments to make about this wine: 'Flavours are focused on dark fruits; blackberry, plum and black cherry with hints of coffee, clove and subtle exotic spices. The tannins are broad and offer a lingering juicy fruit finish.' (6 x 75 cl)
