La Grola, a blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Syrah and Sangiovese, shows the continuing progress that Allegrini has made since the 1997 vintage. It is elegant and velvety, now displaying many more layers of flavour and complexity than in the earlier vintages. This is a sure sign that the La Grola vineyard, after almost 20 years, is now producing the quality of fruit that make it one of Valpolicella's most fabled crus. La Grola, a single vineyard wine, fled the safety of DOC to become IGT from the 1997 vintage. The Allegrinis were fed up with the failure of the law to catch up with the quality demands of the modern consumer. They had long ceased putting Molinara in the blend, yet the law had failed to change. Similarly, they had increased the level of Corvina beyond the permitted maximum in search of better depth in the wines. (6 x 75 cl)

The Thomson family have been growing grapes in the area for over 75 years and are considered one of the regions best vignerons. Jim Barry THE LODGE HILL Shiraz Clare Valley Australia
Description: Situated in the cool uplands of the North Mount Lofty ranges about 50 km north of Adelaide, the vineyards of Jim Barry were established in Clare in 1959. This is a family run winery are committed to producing quality wines through an innovative approach to viticulture and winemaking technology. In 1977 when Jim Barry first purchased the Lodge Hill property, his intention was to devote the entire area to Riesling. However, there was a small area which had a gentle slope facing north, capturing the warmer conditions of the elevated site and he decided that it was an ideal place to grow a premium Shiraz. Aged in French and American oak the Lodge Hill Shiraz is a brilliant deep red colour with purple hues. It delivers complex and fascinating aromas of black cherry, liquorice and mint. The palate is rich, dense and full bodied, with ripe dark cherry fruit, velvety tannins, sweet vanillin oak and a long, juicy finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Nobilo DRYLANDS Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough NZ
Description: Steeped in history, Nobilo wines are proudly acclaimed as some of New Zealand's most respected pioneering wine brands. A Croat immigrant, Nikola Nobilo, whose family history and winemaking background stretches back over 300 years in Europe, led the way. The history of the company in New Zealand goes back to the early 1940's when this Croatian family, landed in New Zealand. They settled in Huapai, West Auckland, situated in the North Island of New Zealand, and started planting vines in 1943. The Nobilo family effectively persuaded and guided the New Zealand wine industry away from hybrid grape varieties and fortified wines, to a higher level of quality wine, now recognised and appraised by all markets. 'Searching for the best...' is the philosophy in the creation of the Drylands wines, reflecting the pride and inspiration of the winemaking team, led by Darryl Woolley and David Edmonds. Allowing the expression of the vineyard to follow through to the wine is an important factor in its development. The fruit concentration from these 22 plus year-old vines creates unique complexity and depth to this wine. Each year, the wine wins a selection of gold medals and is the regular recipient of international trophies. A generous, supple palate shows a perfect balance of ripe, sweet fruit and fresh, zesty acidity. Snatches of passion fruit, banana and lifted citrus notes, are complemented by an intense, dry, lingering finish.
