Domaine de Montpertuis CLASSIQUE Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Description: The Domaine de Monpertuis has been in the hands of the Jeune family for several generations. Each successor has added bits and pieces of vineyards to expand the estate. Current owner, Paul Jeune, is now the proprietor of the 10 acres of vines that are scattered amongst 32 separate parcels throughout the confines of Chateauneuf du Pape. In addition, Jeune now vinifies separate cuvees of Cotes du Rhone and Vin de Pays du Gard as well as his white and reds from the Chateauneuf appellation. Harvested by hand the red varietals are not destemmed before fermentation. The Cuvee Classique undergoes a 15 to 20 day cuvaison designed to produce a long-lived but not aggressively tannic wine. The wine is then aged in large foudres and is normally bottled, without filtration, 18 to 24 months after the harvest, depending on the composition of the wine. Jeune has the remarkable good fortune of having a majority of his vineyards planted to vines between 60 and 110 years of age. The remaining vineyards generally are between 20 and 60 years, except for some new plantings of white varietals like Roussane. The multiplicity of parcels spread across Chateauneuf imparts a classic character to the wines of Monpertuis, absorbing the nuances of each soil type of the appellation. However, the heart and soul of the domaine lies within three primary parcels: La Croze, Le Clos de la Cerise, and Monpertuis. Although Chateauneuf du Pape may be composed of 13 individual varietals, the Domaine de Monpertuis relies most heavily on the Grenache grape. The Cuvee Classique blend normally is based on 70-85% Grenache with Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault providing the balance. This red Chateauneuf is characterised by a deep colour, predominantly purple or garnet-red with a delicate fragrance while in the mouth it displays wide architectural dimensions combined with a great finish. Robert Skalli 'F' RANGE Cabernet Sauvignon Vin de Pays D'Oc
Description: F., the most prestigious brand of Les Vins Skalli, was created in 1998 with the 1996 vintage. F. wines, christened in homage to Francis Skalli, father of Robert. Conceived to convey the timeless expression of great wines, F. is distributed in strictly limited quantities. F. wines epitomize the winemaking know-how of Les Vins Skalli venerable vines, patient vinification followed by eighteen months of aging in French oak barrels, under the expert advice of Michel Rolland, who assists Les Vins Skalli with winemaking. The vinification is traditional and involves long maceration periods in order to encourage the extraction of both the substance and the aromas. The wines are all vinified and aged separately for 18 months in French oak barrels. After one year, we proceed with the definitive blending, which will melt together harmoniously during the last 6 months in barrels. This ruby coloured wine expresses aromatic notes of sweet spices, cinnamon and crystallised red fruits. Swirling brings out notes of wild strawberries, fine leather, Virginia tobacco and finally undergrowth, giving an impression of great complexity. The wine is harmoniously balanced, combining structure and volume with tannin that is noticeable but smoothed in a structure reminiscent of chocolate. The finish has notes of wood, caramel, black fruits and spices. (6 x 75 cl)

Cape Mentelle Cabernet Merlot Margaret River Western Australia
