Contadi Castaldi was founded in 1991 by Vittorio Moretti and in 1997 he passed the reins to Mario Falcetti, an expert agronomist and oenologist. In choosing the name, the company wished to keep ties with tradition alive: the Contadi were once the counties into which the lands of the Castaldi were divided – the Castaldi being noblemen who had the right to take the best produce from every harvest. Meanwhile, with its logo and the shape of the bottle, the company wanted to affirm the value of an innovative course of action that demonstrates its desire to offer a contemporary approach to the taste of the Franciacorta. Contadi Castaldi has its headquarters in Adro which, according to historical sources, is an open, light, calm place which 'burns' with life force. Adro is one of 19 municipalities in Franciacorta authorised by the Consortium for the cultivation and production of grapes for producing Franciacorta and Terre di Franciacorta wines. This wine is produced from a 60 hectares estate planted with 80% white grapes including Chardonnay, Pinot bianco as well as 20% red grapes such as Pinot Nero , Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Merlot, Nebbiolo and Barbera. The harvest is done manually with the grapes transferred to small boxes. Next, manual selection of grapes on special sorting table occurs while the objective of using very low technological impact in winemaking is evident through the moderate use of sulphur dioxide, use of the force of gravity to load presses.BR

Domaine Jean & Henri Boillot LES CHEVRETS 1er Cru Volnay

Botalcura LA PORFIA Grand Reserva Cabernet Franc Curico Chile
Description: Vina Botalcura is the result of the passion of two men. Chilean partner, Juan Fernando Waidele, was seduced by the charm of the town of Botalcura and its environs, and this is where the idea to build a winery started. Juan Fernando then met enologist Philippe Debrus, who had a strong desire to return to a hands-on approach to winemaking, a style he learned in his native France when he was young. The winery is named after the town it is based in, Botalcura, near Talca, about 3 hours south of Santiago, in the coastal mountain range that forms the Maule Valley. Additionally, the word Botalcura means Large Stone in Mapundungun, the language of the Mapuche people of southern Chile. A part of the Vina Botalcura land was christened many years ago with the name La Porfia. This expression alludes to those who have tenacity and perseverance, qualities that fit perfectly with the spirit in which our Grand Reserve wines are made. This Carmenere is aged for 12 months in French and American oak, and are then bottle aged for a further year before they are released from the winery. Great care is taken from the vineyards through to the winery and this has produced a deep ruby red coloured wine with brilliant clarity and medium viscosity in the glass. Distinctive aromas of black cherry and cassis are complemented by notes of red bell pepper, sun-dried fruits, toast, coffee, and vanilla. While the deceptively open palate is direct on entry, it opens to reveal a rounded middle, supported by excellent acidity. Soft tannins from the middle palate through the firm, ever-so-slightly bitter finish adds length to the structural elements of this full-bodied Cabernet Franc. Finally, ageing in small oak barrels have contributed toasty complexity to the gamut of rich fruit flavours. (12 x 75 cl)

Delta Vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc NZ
Description: Light, pale lemon yellow in colour, the Delta Sauvignon Blanc has tremendous intensity on the nose, with perfumes of passion fruit and blackcurrants. On the palate, it is clean and fresh, with good balance between elegant, ripe fruit, crisp minerally acidity and a long, perfumed finish. Sheena Gray, wife of winemaker Matt Thomson, bought this 10 hectare site in Marlborough’s Dillon’s Point in 2001. Matt is convinced that the slightly cooler nights in this sub-region produce wines with more aromatic qualities than other areas. Together with Malcolm Adams, a viticulturist with more than 20 years experience, Matt and Sheena have created one of Marlborough’s mosts outstanding vineyards for Sauvignon Blanc. The soils have a high mineral content and good drainage due to the sand lying beneath the soil’s surface. The wine is bottled under the Stelvin closure, so that it can be enjoyed free from cork taint and in perfect condition. (12 x 75 cl)
