Bodegas Faustino PORTIA PRIMA Ribera del Duero DO
Description: Named after the 7th moon of Uranus Portia, and in Latin meaning 'Offering', is a selection of premium red wines from Bodegas Faustino. Portia Prima is the second wine to be released by the Bodega from their winery in Ribera de Duero. Portia Prima is the result of a meticulous selection of Tinta Fina del Pais , from the the best plots in the vineyard. Once in the winery , the wine undergoes 15 months ageing in new French Oak and after light fining with egg whites the wine is aged a further 8 months in the bottle before release. A deep cherry-red wine with youthful hues at the rim, it is showing intense aromas of ripe dark fruit that blend into the wooded aromas from the new oak and develop against a background of peppercorns. Hints of vanilla accompanied by toasty and balsamic notes produce a meaty style in the mouth while the sweet, agreeable tannins develop over the long finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Mas d’en Catala Tinto Crianza Priorat DOQ
Description: The estate's oldest vines give this intensely flavoured yet remarkably elegant wine, with the rich summer fruit overlaid with the subtle minerality that marks out the best wines of the region. Mas d'en Cátala is the name that people from la Vilella Baixa and Gratallops gave to Mas d'en Satre at the end of S.XIX. After the state was occupied by several different families and changed its cultivation again and again, our main interest was to recover old vineyards and plant new ones so that we could revive the history of the estate from the well known town of Gratallops, in the heart of D.O.Q. Priorat. After Phylloxera, the estate went into a decay, and progressively the vineyards were abandoned, until the point that in 1999 only two from fourteen hectares were remaining from the original ones and the old owner was only cultivating them in his free time. In its hayday, the Mas was almost all cultivated, mostly vineyard, but also almond trees, aurbequines, olive trees and fig trees. Since 1999, the people from the estate have been working hard to preserve this treasure. The winery will not be at full capacity until 2009 but we are currently able to start offering the fruits of our hard work. (12 x 75 cl)
