Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse-de-Lalande 2eme Cru Classe Pauillac
Description: The Pichon Longueville estate goes back to the sixteenth century and in 1859 Virginie de Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande and her two sisters inherited three-fifths of the vineyard from their father. This took on the name of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. Bordering on Chateau Latour; second growth Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is located in the southern part of Pauillac, near Saint-Julien. In 1978, May-Elaine de Lencquesaing, daughter of Edouard Miailhe, in turn inherited this beautiful property and devoted herself entirely to continuing the tradition of quality wine. Just two families have been responsible for maintaining this wine's superb reputation for three centuries. The unusual choice of grapes varieties is a partial explanation for this wine's outstanding personality. Additionally, traditional methods combine with modern technology to make the most of this estate's prestigious soil, while the wine spent 20 months in oak barrels, 50% of which were new wood. A perfect combination of power and elegance. The body is rich and dense with soft tannins. The palate, just like the nose, displays an almost endless complexity. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Saint Ahon Cru Bourgeois Haut-Medoc
Description: A 31-hectare estate divided into different parcels with vineyards mainly on a mixture of gravels and flint soils. With the vines being fairly youthful high-density planting is necessary . The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 28%, Cabernet Franc 10% and Petit Verdot 2%. Respect for nature includes the use of manures made from animal and vegetable material. The harvest is manual with a table de tri to sort the grapes. Once in the winery the grapes undergo a long fermentation of 18-21 days in stainless steel and cement vats. The wine is then aged in barriques for twelve to fifteen months and fined with egg white before bottling. Deep ruby wine showing some development at the rim. Classy nose of soft autumn fruits, damsons and blackcurrants with a hint of sweet spice. Dry and full-bodied with firm tannic structure and good weight of ripe fruit with hints of cassis. A lingering finish gives the wine character and definition. (6 x 75 cl)

Le Due Terre Pinot Nero Colli Orientali del Friuli
Description: Silvana Forte and Flavio Basilicata established the estate in 1984 with the idea of producing wines with both tradition and sense of terroir. They are a team that is committed to wines that flout traditional canons. Flavio started as a consultant winemaker in the late seventies, working mainly in the Colli Orientali del Friuli appellation and having a lot of experiences with both international and local grapes. Since the beginning, their main focus was to grow Refosco, Schioppettino and Tocai, classic varietals from the area and particularly well performing in the village of Prepotto where the estate is located. Le due terre means two soils: the two soils in question are marl and clay plots divided by the road in Prepotto. Flavio is a sort of avant-garde traditionalist. He wants to keep alive the varietals and the ancient methods but he's perfectly aware of the necessity of refinement and complexity required by today's wine drinkers. For him originality and terroir are a real challenge and his winemaking approach is simply, 'less is better'. That's why he prefers not to rack the wines if unnecessary, preferring the action of the lees and oxygen to any intrusive manipulation. The Pinot Nero is truly Burgundian in style, with lovely scents of red fruit, rose petals and potpourri spice. Both velvety and steely it is balanced, clean and long (6 x 75 cl)
