Description: Ambrosial scents greet you from the glass; ripe fruit flavours of Bartlett pear, Macintosh apple and Meyer lemon offer substantial counterpoints to beautifully suggestive French oak components of cinnamon, nutmeg, and hazelnut. This mouthwatering wine shows a delightful complexity, while the rich, creamy mid-palate is framed by a well-balanced acid tannin structure leading to a brilliant clean finish that leaves you wanting more. Russian River Valley Chardonnay is a blend of several premium vineyards located within three miles of the winery in the heart of the Russian River Valley. Carefully tended vines yield fruit of exemplary quality and this white wine it is a pure expression of Russian River Valley terroir. The juice was fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. The barrel fermented portion of wine was then aged for 8 months in French oak to produce an intricately layered wine with delicate nuances of fruit and oak. The Russian River Valley has come to be known as 'America's Burgundy,' and DeLoach is proud to have been an important factor in this distinction. Purchased by Boisset in 2003 and the appointment of new winemaker Greg La Follette marked the start of their return to form for DeLoach. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Dauzac 5eme Cru Classe Margaux
Description: Chateau Dauzac was classified a great growth in 1855, however, wine growing would appear to go back to the thirteenth century. However, it was necessary to wait until the arrival of Thomas Michel Lynch in 1740 for the vines to be consolidated into the beautiful vineyard that we know today. In more recent time the chateau was bought by the MAIF insurance company in 1988, and in 1992 they handed over the running of the estate and the Presidency of the Board of Directors to Andre Lurton. Now in charge, it is Andre Lurton's reponsibiltiy to produce the wine from the 45 hectares of 15-20 year old vines. From the vineyard to the winery great care is taken in producing this wine from the manual harvest to table sorting both before and after destemming quality is always the driving force. Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 58%, Merlot 37% and a little Cabernet Franc 5% this wine will splend 12 months in oak barrels with racking each trimester and fined using eggwhites. The Hachet Guide Considered: Intense purple colour, traditionnally Dauzac, succulent, jammy with a strawberry and cherry nose it is tightly knit, ample and well supported by the oak. It is interesting to note that Ernest Davis, who was the manager of both Dauzac and Ducru Beaucaillou, perfected the famous bouillie bordelaise here in 1885 with the help if Professor Alexis Millardet. Alpha Zeta 'R' Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore
Description: Alpha Zeta was established with winemaker Matt Thompson in 1999. The original aim was quite simple: to produce mid-priced Veronese wines using fruit from selected vineyards rather than by buying and blending bulk wine from the various co-operatives. Over the years, Matt has developed a great relationship with a series of growers, and has convinced them to lower yields and pick later. This has resulted in riper and more flavoursome grapes. The grapes for these wines are sourced from vineyards in the Valpantena and Monteforte d'Alpone valleys, both of which are to the east of Verona. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, it is then Matt's job to ensure that these flavours are retained in the finished wine, and this he does admirably. These are modern, innovative wines that express the real quality inherent in Veronese viniculture. Made by re-fermenting the young wine on the skins of grapes that we laid down to dry has provided this deep red coloured wine with great depth and flesh. (6 x 75 cl)

Chateau Lynch Bages 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac
Description: Overlooking the Gironde estuary at the entrance to Pauillac the vines of Lynch-Bages are located on the Bages plateau, on one of the finest gravelly rises in the appellation. The estate once belonged to the famous Lynch family, of Irish origin, and was acquired by Jean Charles Cazes in 1934. His grandson, Jean-Michael Cazes, restructured the estate in 1974 adding state of the art winemaking equipment, while keeping the former wooden vats as a reminder of the nineteenth century. The grapes are all hand picked and then carefully sorted before crushing. A very strict selection is made prior to blending and the wine is traditionally aged in oak barrels for 15 months before bottling. Garonne gravel. "...fleshy, round, seductive, fat and fruity..." Parker, 90. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Montrose 2eme Cru Classe Saint Estephe
Description: Chateau Montrose is situated in the Medoc. The vines of this 94-hectare estate form a single block around the little village of the Chateau, winery buildings and winegrowers' houses. The vineyard is planted on a gravelly rise with a layer of large pebbles four to six metres deep. The clay marl subsoil retains water, releasing it to the vine roots during drought years. Monsieur Dumoulin created the wine estate in 1815 and it quickly created a good name for its high quality wines with extraordinary ageing potential. Chateau Montrose was classified a second growth in 1855 and is undoubtedly one of the most famous wines of Bordeaux. 40% new barrels. Coarse gravel on clay-silt subsoil. Parker, 91. (12 x 75 cl)

Isole E Olena Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana
Description: The wine shows pure berry and cassis fruit flavours on the palate, with firm yet supple tannins and a slight cedary spice on the finish. The wine shows great complexity and finishes long. All the grapes are grown on the Isole e Olena estate's 45 hectares of vineyards. The vineyards are situated on the western border of the Chianti Classico zone, at approximately 350-400 metres above sea level, while the vineyards are south-southwest facing. Grapes were harvested on the second half of October and the must was macerated on the skins for four weeks. During this time, delestage and pumping over took place twice a day. After the malolactic fermentation was complete, the wine was racked into barrel. 100% barrel ageing took place, 50% in new oak for 24 months. The wine was then released 2 years after bottling. Lyeth L de LYETH Sonoma County Merlot California
Description: The Lyeth Sonoma County Merlot has an attractive minty aroma and soft yet rounded fruit on the palate that is nicely buttressed by grainy tannins. Delicious aromas, with complex hints of black plums, cherries and blackberries, highlighted with hints of mocha and truffle. Quality at this price, with a Sonoma County appellation, is nigh on impossible to find. Jean-Charles Boisset hankered after Lyeth, a cult winery in Sonoma, for over a decade before buying it in 1994. Originally founded in 1981, it built a formidable reputation during the 1980s under the guidance of its winemaker, Bill Arbois. When Boisset bought the winery, he immediately contacted Bill and brought him back on board. (12 x 75 cl)

Cesconi Pinot Grigio Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT
Description: The Pinot Grigio from Cesconi has a very intense but clean bouquet with hints of jasmine and white fruits. The palate is full, fat and creamy with delicious ripe pear fruits and gentle spice. As with all the Cesconi wines, this has a perfect balance and elegance with a long finish. It shows the elegance that the late growing season brought to white wines in this part of Italy, and this elegance is retained and highlighted by the move to a Stelvin closure. The four Cesconi brothers have transformed their family estate, situated in Trento, northeast Italy, in the past decade. Whereas they previously sold all their fruit to the local co-op, today they are making some of Italy's most exciting white wines. (6 x 75 cl)

Fairview Viognier Paarl RSA
Description: The combination of fruit from various vineyards is carefully blended so as to get the best out of the various components. The Fairview grapes provide freshness and fragrant upfront fruit, while the dryland component provides depth, richness and full mouthfeel. Whole bunch pressing retains the freshness, which balances well with the fragrant flavours. The property was bought by the grandfather of current owner, Charles Back, in 1937, and was subsequently run by his father, Cyril. Charles has run it for the past 25 years. Fairview is situated on the lower slopes of Mt. Paarl, which is more sheltered from the moderating maritime influence than nearby Stellenbosch. Fairview has been planted with vines since 1699.
