Poliziano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Description: The Poliziano estate was purchased by the Carletti family in 1961 and today it is run by Federico Carletti, assisted by oenologist Carlo Ferrini. This wine is a blend of Sangiovese, merlot, canaiolo nero and mammolo and is aged for two years in oak, 2/3 in large neutral barrels and 1/3 in small barriques. Concentrated flavors of dark fruits arel offset nicely by oak. With spicy flavors on the long finish, this is a rich, well balanced wine. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut Vosne-Romanee
Description: In the early 1960's, this 22 acre estate was created by Fernand Lecheneaut while he worked for a négociant in Beaune. He took advantage of opportunities to buy parcels of various vineyards, and finally quit the shipper trade when he had acquired enough. Based mainly in the Côte de Nuits, spread through the appellations of Nuit-St-Georges, Morey-St-Denis, Vosne Romanée and Chambolle Musigny, where it is planted with 90% Pinot Noir. In addition the Domaine have a small vineyard in the grand cru Clos de la Roche in Morey-St-Denis. The remaining 10% of grapes produced are evenly divided between Chardonnay and Aligote. Their annual production of 2,500 cases comes in 13 different bottlings and availability is strictly limited. Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut has been run since 1985 by brothers Vincent and Philippe Lecheneaut. The Estate in Nuits St Georges is considered one of the finest in Burgundy and tradition is the by-word for the wines made here. Once harvested the wine spends 18 months in barrique without any fining or filtration. The wines produced are superbly crafted, concentrated yet forward and elegant with well integrated oak. A ruby-coloured wine with dark forrest fruit aromas and floral hints of rose and violets. This Pinot Noir is an intense, fat, broad-shouldered, full-bodied wine showing off its super-ripe fruit flavours. Layers of candied raspberries, cassis, cherries, and stones are discernable in this mouth-coating, highly-structured, and firm wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Description: This 90 hectare estate in the heart of Southern Rhone was founded by André Brusset in 1947. The domaine, based in the ancient village of Cairanne, is now run by his son Daniel, and grandson Laurent, who was a winemaker. Yields are well below that required by law, and the fruit is of the highest quality. The grapes for this wine are 100% hand picked and vigorously selected for ripeness before the picking begins. The grapes are crushed and destalked with no yeast added . The fermentations lasts for 15 days and the cap is punched down twice daily to aid the extraction of colour and tannin. Description: The grapes for this wine, 100% Chardonnay, are selected from two regions, the east coast of Corsica, famed for its light sandy soils and from Lezignan Crobières in the south west of France. Description: In 1956, Michele Chiarlo began his career as a producer with a small cellar in Calamandrana, starting off with 5 hectares of his father's company's vineyards, planted with Barbera and Muscat grapes. Today, the 50 hectare estate is spread throughout some of the regions best wine producing areas of Barolo, Gavi and Asti. This wine comes from a 6 hectare vineyard in Cerequio is to be found on a splendid, south-facing amphitheatre hill between the communes of La Morra and Barolo. The exceptional composition of the soil together with a particularly mild climate make Cerequio one of most prestigious crus throughout the entire Barolo production area. The vineyard is skilfully managed and prepared with much care taken between the vineyard and the winery. Here the wines spend 2 years in oak barrels. This wine is from a single vineyard located on the most prestigious hillside between the villages of La Morra and Barolo, it is a rich and aristocratic wine with amazing complexity and a long finish. Montresor OTTELLA Lugana
Description: Il bianco de l'Otela, as the old inhabitants of Northern Italy's Peschiera sometimes called it, is none other than the Trebbiano di Lugana of the Montresor family, winegrowers for many generations, and the tradition continues. Franscesco left the legal profession and, with his father Ludovico, has dedicated all of his time to the pursuit of the highest quality wines. The Ottella Lugana, thanks to the care dedicated to the vineyard, to the harvest , and to the wonderful nature of the soil, which is born of great distinction. The Montresor family vinifies all the grapes from their own 25 hectares of vineyards and those of longtime growers, in order to guarantee that the highest quality wine possible is derived from the terreno. In this unexpectedly benign climate the much-maligned variety Trebbiano can flourish, especially if it is grown with care and not permitted to over-produce. Here is a beautiful example of the result: a very aromatic bouquet introduces mild, somewhat broad flavors to the palate. The wine is quite dry, but not particularly hard edged, and in a forthright and attractive way makes its case for its grape and soil, and its producer, who must be complemented for coaxing such balance into being.
