Hugh Hamilton JIM JIM THE DOWN UNDERDOG Unwooded Chardonnay McLaren Vale
Description: Jim Jim the Kelpie dog has looked after these grapes all year, keeping birds and other pests at bay so you can enjoy wine made from pristine quality grapes. Its got all the freshness, style and flavour you could ask for which is why you will be calling for Jim Jim over and over again. Hugh is the fifth generation of the family that planted the first vineyards at Glenelg in 1837, less than one year after European settlement in South Australia. As with all families one is a black sheep and Hugh Hamilton is it. You can expect therefore to enjoy the difference. Hugh has a clear vision about the way he sees wines and he produces accordingly. He is a firm believer in the wine and food experience. Neither is magic. Both are great, especially in the company of good friends and lively conversation. His wines are therefore eminently drinkable and certainly very more-ish. (6 x 75 cl)

Chateau Climens 1er Cru Barsac
Description: There is perfect harmony between this very demanding varietal and tes terroir, both of which are conducive to the development of noble rot. From this unique alchemy is born the inimitable balance, smoothness and incomparable finesse of the wines from Climens. As with the vinification, barrel maturation is adapted to the characteristics of each year, It lasts approximately 20 months, following which the fledgling wine, once bottled, will be able to fly alone and as it ages enchant many a generation of connoisseurs. It is a rare occurrence, but only five families have owned the estate from its origins and its surface area in a continuous single vineyard, has practically remained unchanged since its creation. The name Climens, which appears for the first time on a contract dated 1547, apparently meant unfertile or poor land in a local dialect: an admirable paradox for such a great terroir ! The vines appear to have been planted as early as the end of the 16th century, hence the chateau became one of the much-envied First Growths in 1855. Lucien Lurton, a specialist of terroirs and the owner of several famous classified growths in the Medoc, bought the domain in 1971. Since 1992, the chateau's destiny has been in the hands of his daughter, Berenice Lurton. She takes great care in perpetuating the magi | | | |
