Koonowla Cabernet Sauvignon Claire Valley Australia
Description: Strong mulberry and vegetative characters on the nose. The wine has rich fruit character, hints of choc-mint and cedar oak tones to deliver a balanced red with good depth and length. South Australia was founded in 1836 and the pioneering families of these early settlers quickly spread north to create Clare Valley, which remains one of Australia's most productive regions for wool, grain, and wine production. Koonowla was established there shortly after by Colonel Barker, who began a farming/grazing enterprise but sold in 1892 to John Tothill who, with great vision, planted the first vines, built a fine winery for commercial wine making, and produced wines with a thriving export trade to England. Koonowla became one of the six original wineries in the Clare Valley and continued to develop until a tragic fire in 1926 destroyed much of the stock and cellars. It continued with vitaculture as a major business activity for another twenty years, but slowly reduced the area under vines to make way for the economic boom developing from grain and wool production. Finally, in 1985, 8 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon was planted, heralding the recommencement of Koonowla wines as a bottle label. Koonowla's current owners are Andrew and Booie Michael, who purchased it in 1991 to expand their interests in the district. Chateau d'Yquem 1er Cru Superieur Classe Sauternes
Description: Chateau d Yquem is unquestionably one of the finest and most highly sought after dessert wines in the world. In the famous 1855 classification, Chateau d Yquem was the only wine to be accorded the rank of Grand Premier Cru. Even the top Bordeaux red wine producers, such as Lafite and Latour, were simply classed as Premier Crus. Only one glass of wine per vine is produced at d'Yquem after a painstaking harvest and severe selection in the winery. Yquem is located on the highest hill in Sauternes and enjoys the best growing conditions in the whole appellation. The 110-hectare vineyard is planted with 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Hugo Casanova DON ALDO Maule Valley Chile
Description: The best Cabernet Sauvignon from this 100 hectare estate of the Casanova family, aged for 18 month in French new oak barrel it is a deep red colour with brown evolutioned notes and elegant violates shades. Complex aromas abound showing red fruit with a mixture of chocolate and spices. Palate showing red fruits on the entry and mysterious toasted flavours, it has a delicate presence of milky notes and complex tannins that do not conceal the fruit, ending with a lasting oakness as chocolate hints give complexity to this sophisticated wine. Coming from the north of Italy, the first members of the Casanova family arrived in Chile at the end of the XIX century, their purpose was to continue the nobel tradition for producing high quality wine, the same prominent wines they had been growing in Italy for generations. To achieve this goal, Eliseo Casanova acquired the 'Batuco' and 'Valle Hermoso' farms in the Itata valley where he fulfilled his dreams. Years later, his son Aldo, attracted by the exceptional climate conditions for the vinegrowing in the Maule region, bought the 'Purisima Ranch' where he introduced French cepage.
